What I would do is bring him in and talk to him, just to size him up and see where his head is at, and what he has been doing
recently.
That would not cost anything, and they need to do that anyway to assess his trade value.
Talk to him and go from there is what smart people would do.
He doesnt have any trade value

Heck with him. He's nothing more than another loser who thought drugs were more important than a very high paying career.

Check with Taco Bell, dude. I bet they're hiring.
No, taco hell is not hiring. I asked for an application and they said there were 50 ahead of me. And they asked me where I was from. Is that legal?

Please cite the magazines and articles.
Forbes. It's been years. But he was no dummy. He had an upbringing similar to dez. Raised by drug addled mom. Grew up in poverty in very rough neighborhood. Whereas Dez was extroverted, romac was very introverted. He stays to himself and doesn't like the limelight. He shares my love of fishing.

Neither the cited source material (Wikipedia sigh) nor his personally quoted opinion of his current condition fill me with confidence in how beneficial re-acquiring McClain would be.
all I am saying is talk to him, that cant hurt anything and go from there.
I doubt jerry would even talk to him now though.

We got someone so incredibly talented for a mere 7th rd pick, because of the Sean Lee tragic knee injury and he was very productive starting in the middle in 2014.
Could have been one of the premiere defensive players in the league today if he had his head on straight and had true passion for the game.

Tremendous combination of size, movement skills and physicality. Instinctive and had a knack for dropping off into pass lanes and make big play INT turnovers.
Too many fed up incidents and attitudes going on with the likes of McClain and Irving.

in terms of not winning ,being the best at his position, loving the game, football isn’t a top prioriety with him.

But after he’s served his suspension (whereas i thought it was indefinite) and somehow gets league reinstate, I can imagine some NFL team will chance
the gamble of possibly rejuvenating an immense talent like that.
Good luck

Actually he was very smart with his money. He made the most of what he got from the raiders financially. I read this in several money magazines. Our own Terrence Newman was another that did very well investing.
Did he? Why does he suddenly want to play again?

It should be interesting to see how his attempts to be reinstated develop.

I'm fairly confident the Cowboys have seen enough of him, however. ;)

Even if Jerry is inclined to forgive him, that long layoff will hurt his cause.

I cannot answer as to his state of mind. He left the raiders with close to 30+ million and hired a financial advisor. He got hit on by friends and family like Tyron Smith for awhile but cut them off. Given his history I can see why so many think he's broke. But that's just a guess.

Can he still play and be motivated each week? Questionable.

Well taken -- for someone to be as unreliable as he was with 2 teams, any inclination to hire him would seem a risky deal at best.

Won't he have to serve a suspension since he quit right after he was put on indefinite suspension?

Good question -- I certainly imagine it won't do anything to help his chances of being reinstated but we'll see. ;)

The Commanders will probably want to take a look at him. They lost R. Foster for the year.

He was a beast for us for about 8 games, but sadly, he left near his prime. He hasn't played in 4 years. No thanks.

He had a bad hip when he played for dallas, and got that operated on to fix that in 2016, so he is better than he was before physically.
I would think his kids might want to see him play and they are older now, and he wants a better ending, than the way it was.
Curious to see if he is reinstated, and if he gets with a team , and how he does.
