The problem with Witten is actually with our coaches. They don't have the sack to sit him down when it's warranted. If he doesn't want to come off the field, he doesn't have to.

IF that’s the case (and I don’t agree that it is), then it’s a coaching problem and not a Witten problem. Let Witten, Schultz, and Jarwin battle it out in training camp and see. This team is poised for a big run so I don’t see any way the staff is going to play Witten if he isn’t producing the most.

Personally I'm not into snap counts. If Witten is getting the job done they keep him in the games. When the regular season starts it becomes all about winning, nothing else matters but winning. I think Jarwin is capable of pushing for playing time and the way you push for that time is by making the plays when your number is called. I think that applies to all players.
Witten ain't having that and there isn't a single coach on this team that's going to put him on the bench to let one of those younger TEs play unless Wit allows it.

That's not true, Wit is the default starter until he takes himself out of the game. Rico already told on social media how this is working out. Our TEs had a decent second half of the season last year and they would have been much better this season but now the progress stopper is back for one season, taking away snaps from players that could be here for another decade.

Rico? LOL. You want to listen to a butthurt player that isn’t good enough to get on the field and then whine about it? I guess that’s your prerogative. Again, it’s up to the coaching staff to determine who provides the most production on the field. Let it play out in TC and quit *****ing about it.

Bull****! They’ll play the player that shows the most.

I want all of our players wanting to be out on the field and contributing. As for Witten the big advantage is he can actually play the TE position which consist of blocking and receiving that position has a duel responsibility and the ability to block and to seal the edge is just as important as his ability to get open and make the catches that move the chains. Jarwin came on strong in the receiving department late last season and hopefully he can build on that success. I think if guys are wise they will approach Witten and pick his brain and take his lead but it is not his job to hold their hand and baby sit them. As I mentioned in an earlier post I don't believe in arbitrary snap count limit. If Jason is out there and helping the offense then I expect him to play, same goes for any other player. I'm only interested in winning once the reg season hit, you can have the OTA, training camp and practice to work on your skill sets but game day is about performing and those making plays I want them in the game

Was that a rebuttal to anything I said?

I think so. You’ve said Witten would play regardless how he or the other TEs are playing. He’s saying let the best play and I definitely think that’s how it will be handled. All the other two have to do is outplay Witten. Easier said than done.

They've already done nothing but kiss his butt. When are you proposing that changes?

Kiss his butt? lol As a vet he is out there working his butt off getting ready. He is at OTA how many times do players not show up to OTA and people here make the silly claim it is only voluntary? Yet he is there he is working. If others worked half as hard as him they would be seeing playing time. Jason in his career has played through pain he has been there for his team missing 1 game his rookie season playing in all other over 14 years
, he is not out getting high or drunk causing problems he has been hardnosed football since day 1. Has that earned respect? You damn right it does but nothing is handed he works his tail off for it.

I've already replied to that argument. Not repeating myself just because you can't keep up.

He hasn't played at a high level for a long time. Cowboys fans have misconstrued usage for effectiveness with Witt for years. He doesn't give us anything we didn't have at TE last year and, in the passing game, is probably a downgrade from Jarwin. We don't need another guy to run 6-yard option routes.
At least Witten (2017 version) got open in the red zone. Red zone was a problem in 2018.

Red Zone Success Rate
Witten 2017
50% (6 of 12)

all TE 2018
25% (3 of 12)

Successful play gains 40% of needed yardage on 1st down, 60% on 2nd down, 100% on 3rd/4th down.

Yep, I like Witten but I like Jarwin and Shultz as well, hell I like Rico but this is not a popularity contest. Can guys go out and produce as a TE which is blocking and receiving. People act as if the job is only catching balls, well if that is the case then get a big WR call him a TE and forget about the blocking aspect of the position

So you are kissing his butt too. There is no arguing with you on this topic. I'm outta here, buttkisser.

Frankly, I don’t care which of the TEs get the most snaps. It could be Witten or any of the others as long as they’re producing. I just think the argument some make that Witten will play the most simply because the coaching staff won’t have any input is really stupid. Witten certainly deserves all the accolades and the benefit of the doubt but that only goes so far. Witten will work his butt off as always. It’s up to the others to dethrone him instead of him simply abdicating.

No I respect him but then I respect men who plays the game as he does. If someone shows they are the better option then play them I'm all for it. I want to win that is the bottom line and any player who is helping this team win games I back and support 100%.
