According to their rankings, it's not the QB that's the biggest issue. It's the coaching position over the next three years. Does that ranking reflect the uncertainty that Garrett may not even be here beyond a year?

Nope
It reflects the certainty that he will be

The worldwide leader evaluated each team based on a few categories: each team’s roster (non-QB), quarterback, draft, front office and coaching. When you look at the Cowboys they have a superb non-quarterback roster, and their front office continues to replenish it. Those are hallmark traits of this organization and have been for almost a decade now.

Where the Cowboys appear to be the most vulnerable (potentially) is at the game’s most important position - quarterback. If Dak Prescott is the player that doubters believe he is, well, welcome to purgatory; however, if Dak is the ascending talent that those optimists know him as, you can make the argument that this is one of the best and most stable rosters of the next three years.

My 26, and 12 year old sons could have told you this. They have been mediocre since 1996.

This is the relevant piece:

We’ve tracked the future power rankings over the recent past and there’s a pattern.

In 2014 (after an 8-8 season the previous year), the Cowboys ranked 28th.
In 2015 (coming off a 12-4 season), they jumped to 6th overall.
In 2016 (after a 4-12 season), they plummeted to 26th.
In 2017 (coming off a 13-3 season), the team rocketed up to 6th overall again.
Now, in 2018, coming off a 10-6 season they are ranked 14th.
This is supposed to be future rankings, looking out three years. If those bounce around the way these do, you're doing a terrible job and the rankings are meaningless.

The only thing to take out of the rankings is that the head coach is the limiting factor in how far the team can go.

In this respect, they are right. Hopefully next year there will be new rankings with a new coach.

 You are just another hater. The Cowboys will be awesome this season and Garrett will lead us to that 6th SB title.

The only thing I hate is the quality of the HC.

And after watching this guy for a decade, there is plenty of reasons why. It should be obvious to anyone paying attention.

There is no way Jason Garrett will win a Super Bowl as a head coach. No way.

well my self I am, ready to move on from Dak draft Fromm or Eason

Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
Height: 6-2. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.79.
Projected Round (2020): 1-2.
6/6/19: Fromm completed 67 percent of his passes in 2018 for 2,749 yards with 30 touchdowns and six interceptions. Because of an injury, Fromm was pressed into the starting lineup as a freshman in 2017, but he led Georgia all the way to the National Championship that season. Fromm was an excellent game-manager, making some clutch throws while protecting the football to allow his potent rushing attack and superb defense to control games. On the year, Fromm completed 62.2 percent of his passes for 2,615 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He could be even better now that he has more experience.

Jacob Eason*, QB, Washington
Height: 6-5. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
Projected Round (2020): 1-3.
6/6/19: Eason sat out the 2018 season after transferring out of Georgia. He was injured in the 2017 season opener for Georgia, and Jake Fromm remained the starter for the rest of the season. The Bulldogs didn't want to change their winning formula once Eason was healthy, keeping Eason as the backup. After the 2017 season, Eason transferred to Washington.

I know some scouts who are high on Eason, so he definitely would have received serious consideration if he had entered the 2019 NFL Draft, for which he was eligible. Eason has excellent size and a quality arm with pocket-passing potential. At Georgia, he got good experience working in an offense under a respected coordinator with Jim Chaney that correlates more to the NFL than the vast majority of college offenses being used. Kirby Smart said one of the sad parts about Eason leaving Georgia was that his growth under Chaney wasn't seen nationally. Eason completed 55 percent of his passes in 2016 for 2,430 yards with 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Do you really think ANY multi billion dollar company does not go through reorganization and layoffs?

Do you? Really?

I’m hoping I don’t have to go into the whole ‘why TV ratings are down’ thing with you . ESPN is adapting by going to online content . 20 years ago sports center was the only way to get highlights and catch up on your sports , now not so much so it should not come as a surprise to anyone with half a brain that SC ratings are lower. Well, DUH

These are just comments by message board posters who are ignorant or butt hurt that ESPN is “against” their favorite team

They are a multi billion dollar franchise and by far the most dominant sports network in the world but you know better?

LOL
sure
Whatever

TV ratings are down in general because millennials would rather watch youtube on their phone. That's another story entirely. In fact, millennials seem to detest sports in general it appears, with only a slight interest in football. They'd rather watch other millennials play video games against each other online.

Among people who still have cable TV, ESPN's ratings are down by a much greater margin. They are taking a bath with their baseball and basketball deals. SportsCenter is getting crickets. Online material isn't selling.

These are older stories, but still pertinent.

Now, ESPN is trying to buy up affiliates to inflate revenue numbers, but they're still laying people off in droves. As the older age groups are dying off, ESPN's influence is fading.

And when you stake your identity on the likes of Steven A. Smith antics and more political commentary, you just drive more and more people away.
