......Maybe he began to see the writing on the wall. So far, hold outs for Rb'/s hasn't churned to well.

If this was not true, Zeke would have squashed it. He hasnt... its true. Bank on it. Ha sanyone from front office addressed it? Nope. If they had been told by Zeke this was false, Jerry would have been on the news saying it was false. He hasnt.

Its true

That is what I am thinking. There is a difference between "I have made no decision" and "that is a crazy rumor that's bogus!!"

My guess on this situation is that Zeke will end up playing. We still have him under contract for 2 years, so it's pretty much impossible for him to hold out that entire time, and Jerry wants to keep him here. They've already said they have budgeted a contract for him, and they know the starting point is a Gurley deal (for now). I think Zeke will end up playing with the understanding that Jerry will negotiate a contract after the season in good faith, which he will.

The RB market is sort of on shifting sands right now though. Gurley's deal is looking less than promising for the Rams - if he goes out and rips off another huge season then we'll all forget about it, but right now his arthritic knee is looking like a huge cause for concern, and the Rams have already hedged their bets by drafting Darrell Henderson (who I think is going to kill it in Sean McVay's offense). If Gurley struggles and Hendo tears it up, then Zeke's market value is going to take a huge blow.

Same thing with Le'Veon Bell, he is going from an ideal situation in Pittsburgh to a more questionable one with the Jets. If he struggles and doesn't justify his $13M a season contract, it's going to be hard for Zeke to ask for $15M. And Melvin Gordon's holdout will tell you just how much the league values RBs right now, and it's not very much. I think the Chargers are going to deal him, as they've been itching to get their backups more reps, and I'd be shocked if Gordon brings home anything higher than a 3rd.

So Zeke's in a bind. Not only is he taking years off his NFL life and risking injury as the Cowboys' bell cow, he's also in the one market in the NFL where salaries could even be decreasing in the future. Of course he is going to try and push for money ASAP, but Dallas just isn't in a position to give it to him until next year, and he can't hit the open market for two years, so there's really no way for him to get said money right now.

Uh, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but "not making a decision on whether to hold out" and "exploring the possibility of holding out" are literally the exact same thing. All this does is confirms what everyone was worried about.

Not holding out = already made a decision not to hold out.
Haven't made a decision = probably going to hold out, unless the Joneses make it worth his while not to.

Before I posted this, I hadn't made a decision NOT to post it. Had I decided that I wasn't interested in posting it, I wouldn't have wasted my time typing in the first place. You guys act like the media make this stuff up out thin air. Most of the time it either comes from a team or an agent trying to tip the scales. This isn't rocket science.

There are NO quotes from Zeke or his agent.

A media person saying that Zeke has not made a decision is NOT the same as Zeke/Agent saying they have not made a decision.

Me: Common Sense has not confessed to that crime he committed but he is considering a confession.

Response to me: He must be guilty if he is considering a confession.

Did they have a quote from Zeke stating anything about a hold out or not?

That is proof.

Zeke has not, I repeat not, told me if he plans on holding out or reporting to camp. When he does I will post it here first on the zone.

That was King George III's entry on 4 July, 1776.
Being that independence was declared on July 2nd and the actual Declaration of Independence wasn’t signed until the official signing date almost a month later that is probably accurate.

A+ for your history knowledge :)

Seeing as how Zeke’s agent is currently negotiating for a contract extension, why would Elliott choose to quash a rumor (please reread: RUMOR) which might possibly aid him in said negotiations?

I love zeke the player, but it's pretty insane to ask for an extension when you have been investigated by the NFL in two of the last three years. Keep your head down and work and the money will come.

All I know is we are a better TEAM when the pads are strapped in and on and have #21 in the backfield. Guys...we need him! If we don't, then he is replaceable. If we DO need him then it's a grave mistake to trade or let him walk. PAY HiM and let the Future chips fall where they may!

This is the scoop: I've gotten no indication from anyone I've spoken with that Elliott has his mind made up on a holdout situation.

He could still be leaning on holding out as PFT reported AND be undecided on whether it will actually happen. This doesn’t debunk anything.

But as for this bombshell... He has Not refuted holding out, but is undecided on holding out? That’s the relief Cowboys fans should get?

Okay then.
I haven't heard anything from a media outfit that you haven't decided on whether you are going to cheat on your taxes this year. So I assume you will.

Agree.

This is all about leverage.

So, nothing has changed. Only speculation by people not close to the organization say he is now making up his mind on how to proceed.

This is pure spin on the part of the journalists involved for content purposes only. It flies in the face of Zeke stating Jones backed him during the ordeal where Zeke was punished so the league could say they were tough on domestic violence after blowing the Ray Rice decision and getting caught lying about it.

But here it is.

+++++

Stop me if you've heard this before:

Ezekiel Elliott is in line for a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.

That's far from headline news, but what continues to be such is the rumor that Elliott is planning to hold out in 2019 to assure he gets one right now. Such was the report initially floated by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, who initially stated the two-time All-Pro running back would not report to voluntary OTAs absent a finalized deal. Elliott wound up reporting to OTAs as planned and expected, and subsequently mandatory minicamp as well. With news of Melvin Gordon locking horns with the Los Angeles Chargers for a new deal, the climate seems ripe for additional speculation on what Elliott will or will not do this summer.

Rest of article.....Note what Jerry says about Zeke's coming contract!

So,without "Hitting the Click" it's easily deduced that the turd ball rolling voices of -2cents worth of combined speculative conjecture are crawdaddying in a quick retrograde fashion from their original bag over their heads sphincteric spewage,,,typicalo_O

I fully expect Zeke to be with his team when camp opens.

Exactly......why wouldn't he
Stephen has done everything humanly possible to assure him of their intentions ( willing to pay more than Gurley and getting his extension as soon as major other priorities are taken care of).
