Where does Dak Prescott rank among QBs in NFL?

So throwing 1-2 successful back shoulder fades in his entire career makes him a competent QB at throwing that pass? Dak doesn’t have the accuracy or touch to throw back shoulder passes at an acceptable level.
Those are ones I called out, do I have to list every single pass he has ever thrown.

Every deal has a limit on the amount that is guaranteed. That’s not unique to Garappolo’s deal. If, for example, Dak signs a 5 year deal at $30 MM/year he wont be guaranteed $150 MM, so why treat it as if somehow it would be that way for Dak even though it isn’t for others?

The fact is $30 + million is rapidly becoming a normal figure for a quality NFL QB. Note I said quality, not elite. That’s just the market. It’s supply and demand and works just like the real estate market or commodities markets. If a team won’t pay the price it takes to have a quality QB it will have to settle for Brock Osweiler or Case Keenum or Ryan Tannehill or gamble on a rookie or unproven vet.

Is that the fact? I haven't seen it so I guess we will have to disagree there. Cool, lets go ahead and sign Dak to the Garappolo deal. I'm all in on that. It's not 30 mil a year, it's pretty short and it's easy to get out of. Works for me.

You either haven’t been paying attention or are intentionally ignoring everything that is known about contracts to make a point that isn’t remotely fair. Every one of the big contracts (and most of the not so big ones) has a limit on the guaranteed amount, and therefore can be cut short without keeping the player the full length or paying the full amount.

On top of that, you keep talking about Garappolo’s contract as if a 2 year old contract given to a guy with a grand total of 70-80 NFL passes should be the standard for a 3 year starter with a high winning percentage at a time when the market for QBs is sky rocketing.

In other words, you are building an empty argument by comparing apples to hula hoops, and ignoring the realities of supply and demand economics and how markets work.

Garapollo deal plus a year of CAP inflation plus having played at a high level for 4x more games

As a Dak fan I put him right around the 12 range.

He's an upper middle tier NFL starter. As I have said numerous times on this forum, Dak's best qualities are his leadership, moxie, toughness, and his clutch play.

As long as he wins, I don't care if he averages 180 yards a game. It's better than having a guy like Kirk Cousins or Andy Dalton that puts up big numbers and finds a way to lose.

Educate me. I mean, it's not as if you and I haven't already discussed this to the point of nausea. Saying that 30 million plus contracts are now the norm is not, IMO, accurate and that is a fact. Will they be, at some point yes. Probably will be but the bigger issue here, in my mind is that you and others are suggesting that teams just accept those types of deals and pay them out for average players. That's BS. I didn't bring up Garappolo. Pay attention to the thread. Garappolo was introduced into the discussion and I simply explained what his contract was. You got a problem with that, take it up with whomever brought up Garappolo.

All this post does is add strength to the position I stated earlier. Stupid contracts, based on nothing other then "That's the going rate" should not be handed out. It's bad business and I've said that over and over. If other teams want to do that, fine with me. I don't want my team to do that. I want them to be smarter then that. That's an empty argument. I've already explained that I believe a market adjustment is coming to the NFL in terms of QB salaries. You don't agree, that's fine with me. I don't care but it is coming.

I said $30MM is “rapidly becoming the norm”, and Garoppolo got a shocking contract in 2017 for a backup with 70-80 career passes, then Cousins got just a little under that in the off-season a year ago, then Wilson and Wentz both got above it. A person would have to be blind to miss how this is trending. Goff and Mahomes May end up making $40MM/year. A person would also have to be blind to miss that there aren’t enough quality NFL QBs to go around to all 32 teams, and further see that’s what’s driving the market up.

You are missing the point by saying it’s wrong for people to get paid that much because “that’s the going rate”. That’s an incomplete explanation. The full explanation is that’s the going rate for a quality QB.

Try your explanation while buying a car. You can say you want a Tahoe or Land Rover, but refuse to get one because it’s stupid to pay for one simply because “that’s the going rate”, and the result is you will end up unhappy with the Hyundai Santa Fe you settle for that doesn’t provide what you felt you needed in a vehicle.

The original statement was that even below average QBs were getting 30 million. I said that this was not true. It's not true. Now, you are arguing a point that this guy or that guy is making close to 30 and that Wentz and Wilson are making more then that and that whomever might get 40.

Well, none of that matters one bit. All of that is irrelevant because my original statement is factual. Average or below average QBs aren't getting paid 30 million, right now, today. Until that happens, that statement isn't true and all the circle arguments won't change that. You wanna talk about incomplete, reread your post. There is nothing complete about it.

It's funny you mention a Tahoe, as an example. My Wife has a 2017 Tahoe, fully loaded. That vehicle sold for the high 60s, low 70s at the time. I paid 57K for it. If you are buying cars at MSRP, then you don't know how to buy cars. That's just a simple fact. If you don't know how to negotiate a deal, then you really have no business in that business at all. Smart successful teams do it smarter. Crappy teams follow the trend and then wonder why it didn't work for them when they tried it. I am of the opinion that we set trends and not go along with them. That's the way to stay sorry for a long time.

We will see what happens but right now, today, I am correct and the other post was 100% inaccurate.

Show me where I said even below average QBs were getting $30MM. Go on, point it out.

By the way MRSP isn’t going rate, it’s asking price, just a in a negotiation the players asking price isn’t the same as going rate. Wilson, Wentz and Cousins undoubtedly got less than their asking price, just as the car dealership did. There actually is a reason they call it “negotiating”.

Fine, Dak's MSRP is 32. The going rate for Dak should be lower then that. I understand how negotiations work and I actually discussed this long ago. What sets Dak's going rate? It's all about which team will pay what. Which team, right now, will pay Dak 32 plus offer the required compensation it would take to get Dak? Now, you will try and defer to teams that will be in a position to do that next season but this discussion is about the her and now. So if we are going to say that the going rate is 30+, then lets understand your reasoning there. Saying that this is what x QB got and it's almost 30 and saying that Wilson and Wentz got x 30+ is proof of the going rate don't work either. Both of those QBs are considered to be better then Dak. Show me a deal where a QB who is ranked lower then Dak got 30+. I mean, I here this all over but I don't see any proof of it. Why do a deal like that if you don't have to? The discussion, the argument doesn't track with me. I don't agree with all of those who say it's the going rate. I do not agree with that. Not today, right now.

Lol - two posts ago you responded to me and said “the original statement was that even below average QBs are getting $30 million”. If you weren’t attributing that to me then how in the world can you pretend you were responding to me or my comments?

If Dak’s MSRP is 32K, he should have more rebates and incentives than a Dodge Journey...

Yes, that's exactly right. However, I was not attributing that statement to you and frankly, I don't even understand how anybody could come to that conclusion. Color me shocked that you have arrived there. Listen, if I were attributing something to you, I would flat out tell you. But I am telling you this, this discussion has spiralled into a joke. It is no longer worth having. I ask a simple question and this is what I get as answer.

Cool.....

So, you responded to me by quoting someone else who said something different than I said, and without saying you were quoting someone else, then argued against what they said as if it served as an argument against what I said ...

Well, alrighty then!

If being destroyed by a defense is 16/31 295 yards, 3 TD, 0 INTs and leading your team to 31 points I will take it any day. Know how many times we scored 31 or more last year? You can count them on one hand (3). Yes he struggled like all do when pressure comes up the middle, but to say destroyed is a bit much. The defense is the reason they lost that game, not Pat.
He stated that he knows more about football than most, so I'm guessing you're wrong.:muttley:

According to NFL.com, Dak was rated the 18th best QB in the league until the last couple of games when he was able to bring his ratings up to 16th. He struggles in many games to pass for over 200 yards and IIRC, he has only passed for over 300 yards in 4-5 times in his while career. I think the ratings are realistic and accurate when he was rated 18th. Dak is massively overrated by the Cowboys fan base . Any other QB in the league that struggles to pass for 200 yards a game would be laughed out of the league, but Dak plays for the Cowboys, so he is embraced and compared to Brady by Cowboy fans.

Nah, your just too dumb to figure out this is a run first offense. :lmao2::lmao:

If you had any clue you would see quite clearly that when we have to open it up in the 4th quarter and go to the hurry up, Dak thrives. Its why he leads the NFL in late game winning drives the past 3 years.

bububububububububububububut Dak sucks!!!!!! :huh::muttley::thumbdown::flagwave::clap::lmao::lmao2:

No. I was initially speaking to that poster when you entered the conversation. Basically, it is you who jumped in. Please excuse me for expecting you to have read the thread before entering the conversation. You have a tough time with this sort of thing, don't you.
