On how fans get their takes from the latest national media takes on the Cowboys. I mean there’s so much material just here on this forum. ESPN writes an article or one of the talking heads says Zeke should be an afterthought for the Cowboys. Within minutes, the usual idiots are here making threads. Some national talking head says Dak is inaccurate and until the day he’s gone, the usual idiot fans will be here saying how inaccurate he is. When he wins a Super Bowl they’ll just be silent and wait for the next national media take. If I wasn’t so old, I’d go for my Doctorates and study this phenomena.

Straw man.

Let's see him win one before declaring how people with different perspectives than yours will react to it.

A Sliver Lining forum or thread would be a Ghost Town and this website wouldn’t survive without traffic to support the advertisers.

Social Media and forums like these traffic is driven by critics and negative satire. If all we had was some fans coming here to cheer on the team with “ how bout them Cowboys” we’d be bored.

There are some very good and informative discussions which take place once you get beyond the extremes from both sides. Unfortunately you must wade thru some and ignore others but it’s the sum that drives business here and most sites.

It’s hardly surprising that the homers are trying to make the national media out to be villains here. LOL.

It’s simple. People like Rockport just don’t like negative or critical things said about the Cowboys. So when negative stuff comes out it’s just easier to call the “media” the mean, big bad wolf instead of actually debate the points being made.

Is the op suggesting I, or most of us, get our opinions from others especially from the media? Lol I just find it funny how a disagreement in a valid opinion somehow makes that person an idiot. Do I call extreme dak supporters idiots because their views are completely different than my perspective? No.

Some fans can't handle anything resembling a realistic or critical view of "their Cowboys".

The creator of this thread is the very worst example. Doesn't know much about football at all, but knows how to spread "hate", while trying to put that label on everyone other than himself. Nobody brings more "hate" to the forum, while being too ignorant to realize that.

This is the relationship between the media and public in sports, politics, culture - every area really. People latch on to whatever they read as long as they find it exciting, or it fits with what they are predisposed to believe anyway, and they don't question its validity. The big downside is it removes the incentive of the media to be fair and honest, and to check facts, because the media knows that rumor, innuendo, twisted facts and sensationalism will sell. The interesting thing is people are quick to recognize when the media does this when they don't like what the media is fabricating or twisting or sensationalizing, but they delude themselves into believing that when the media supports what they believe it is somehow fair, honest and ethical.

We can't have a thread without the usual "Garrett sucks" thrown in.

Yep

The Homers are usually the biggest problem. They hate and attack other fans who don’t share their opinions.

They justify in their minds that since they’re not complaining or offering criticism on different aspects of the Cowboys that they are somehow better fans. Lol

Right

We’re all looking for facts, stats and any information or notable opinions to support our own. It’s only natural to gravitate to those who we align with. But we’re also looking for new information and perspectives which broaden our horizon.

That’s what makes these forums so interesting and challenging with differing opinions. It’s spurred and inspired so much deeper thoughts than I’d of otherwise had.

Interesting how just the habitual whiners are criticizing the thread.
