It’s a tricky one, because the team has absolutely no incentive to honor their side of the contract, and never take the same heat players do when they cut them.
The majority of people only care about their emotional fix not anybody else. It won’t be too long before folks compare their 9to5 to Zeke on some if I was getting that I wouldn’t blah blah blah.

That's just not how it works in the NFL.

I don't actually know what you mean by this but in so far as fining a player to the fullest extent, it is possible and I do hope that this is exactly what I hope the Cowboys do. However, I doubt they will. I believe they should, Elliott has basically done things his whole life, to this point, that are contrary to the rules and always been excused. At some point, the team needs to get that lesson through to him IMO. The longer they don't, the more problematic it will become IMO.

I don't believe in all my time as a Cowboy fan wanding these boards have I see a fanbase so vehement toward a player who is clearly the best player on the team.

I can remember players that generated such acrimony, but they were not the best player.

It causes me to wonder how many of you stand up at your job and play hardball to get the most money you can?

This is a different time. Never have I seen people act like a player did something to them personally like this before.

Was Emmitt on his rookie deal when he held out? I don't recall a player with only 3 years under his belt doing this. With still 2 years on his contract, I consider what Zeke is doing highly irregular. Even if he is outplaying his contract, he needs to be honorable to it, and believe Jerry will take care of him next year when he is in his final contractual year. What many are calling leverage, I call undermining his own integrity. Just because he could holdout doesn't mean he should. I think this sours his relationship with Jerry and the rest of the Jones boys. I don't know what happens but I wouldn't put it past Jerry to find a trading partner in a team like the Raiders and just pass this headache on to them. We could have been a contender but now we are left with thoughts of what could have been. It ain't easy being a Cowboys fan.

$3,853,137 this year
$9,099,000 next year

Thats not enough cheddar? hes under contract on a huge rookie deal. Dallas gave him 16.8 million his rookie year

He probably netted around 10 mil after taxes and agent fees, that dough is about probably gone four years later

To be fair, I could probably name on one hand how many alltime RBs deserved a raise more than Zeke through their first 3 years.

Arian foster lit it up from day 1. AP maybe. Barry Sanders And Edgerrin James definitely. Hmm... it’s an extraordinarily short list.

There was not the 5 year contract rule for 1st round picks back when Emmitt played.
His deal was a 3 year deal, so he did not have a contract going into that years TC.

So he did not hold out technically. Now he could have shown up for TC I,guess, but with no contract why should he. Then if he got injured he was screwed.

Best player on the team? Debatable.

Listen, I don't like that Elliott MAY hold out, but players have every right to get as much money as they can regardless of what fans "think" is enough or fair. NFL players will tell you this. It's already been illustrated by Frederick that they play with who's there and that there's a business side of things.
It's only a problem to some fans.

From today:

"We're being careful not to call this a hold out just yet," Slater reported on Inside Training Camp Live.

The team has to fine him to the maximum extent possible. He’s under contract for two more years..

I don’t think Steven’s in any mood to put up with Zeke’s premature BS..

If he were to lead the NFL in rushing and actually perform the entire season, including the playoffs this year, then he would have a leg to stand on for next year, but here, Zeke is acting like a totally unreasonable team cancer..

Seriously, has any Cowboy ever been a bigger distraction than Zeke?

Thankfully, instead of being super pumped about the start of TC, we get yet another Zeke-gate.

Guess $25 million isn't enough. Greedy punk.
