When Zeke got screwed by the Commish and was suspended to be made an example of, one of the consequences of that is that under the personal conduct policy, a player that is suspended automatically loses any guaranteed money left on his contract.

So, when Zeke got suspended, all his guaranteed money went bye bye.

So if you are Zeke, you know that if you get seriously hurt this year, you are screwed. It is the same reason that star players dont want to play under the one year franchise tag, because if you get seriously hurt then you are SOL.

So that is why Zeke is holding out wanting a new contract. A new contract has new guaranteed money.

Poor Zeke the victim. Beats his GF, gets drunk and does stupid things, then gets suspended for it and ruins our season.

And he keeps on doing it. Now he is in Cabo holding out with two years left on his contract while the rest of his team work hard in TC.

Poor guy. LOL

Yeah. Or he just wants a big pay hike with a significant chunk of it paid up front. Doesn't have to get a lot more complicated than that. (He could take out an insurance policy on his own earnings if injury is the driving concern.)

Insurance policy aint paying him Gurley money if he is hurt..............a new contract from the Cowboys will.

Not very difficult to figure out why he is holding out.

I doubt that has much if anything to do with his holdout. Even *if* he tore an ACL, Dallas would still pick up his 5th year option. Now, if a leg were amputated, then he’d lose out, but I think it’s pretty safe to say Dallas won’t be releasing him.

I think it is a pretty poor argument, why would Dallas pay with two years left on the contract, when have they ever done that?

It seems a strategic mistake on Zekes part, I don't think he is getting good advice right now.

Seems like its a pretty good strategy to me, Steven Jones is even saying Gurley money is the starting point to negotiations. So why would Zeke not hold out?

Zeke is going to get a new deal and soon...........trust me.

Is it automatic?

I thought it was up to the team if they wanted to void it.
L. Fournette got suspended for a game and the Jags voided his remaining guarantees.
They went into arbitration this offseason.

Yeah, I think the OP got it wrong. I think the team has the option to void the guarantees, but I have seen zero to indicate that Jerry Jones or the Cowboys have pursued any of that.

Zeke likely sees his career under Garrett as a dead end , he wants money or wants out .

Having a mediocre head coach is a career killer for elite players .
Tell that to our Elite offensive line. Or one of the best linebacking groups in football. See what they tell you

I bet Stephen voids that guaranteed money , he is greedy like that .
