I'd be extremely worried if a 25 year old young 'un wasn't outrunning a 37 year old...............That still doesn't mean he has anywhere near Witten's savvy and Hall of Fame ability (in his prime)..............................

People overrate the **** out of Witten on here because of his career receptions #...

Nah he was legit back in the day but his time has past.

I don't think he was ever the best TE in football though.

Tony Gonzales and Gronk were always in the way.

You could make the argument that he was better all around then Gonzales and Gronk wasn't dependable.

Jimmy Graham was a force at one point too.

Now it's the Travis Kelce show.

Witten has been working hard with jarwin so it makes sense for why he looks good in camp. I think we should expect witten to take a step back with playing time. It’s overall a great sight to see witten back. Without his hairpiece.
Stop, witten hasn't helped anyone in his entire career. This is a fact

If Jarwin really is playing well and has shown great improvement, it's going to be fascinating to watch how Garrett handles the Witten situation. There is little doubt as the season gets close, Witten is going to be pushing for a ton of snaps, if not most of the snaps, like he did before.

I think Garrett is going to allow Kellen Moore to make game day personnel decisions. If Jarwin has improved to the point that he's a better option than Witten, that can only be good for the Cowboys.

Witten is the better blocker, and he will still be valuable in short yardage. When we are in 1 TE sets, it may be someone else, but in 2 TE sets, I think Witten will be the underneath guy with Jarwin working downfield and in the seam. In my opinion, only a major move by Rico as blocker and trusted receiver would keep Witten off the field.

Witten will play at least 50 percent of the snaps.

It was beyond stupid to allow him to come back.

I’m still looking for Witt in 3rd and 5 until he proves he doesn’t have the always-open magic anymore.
3rd and 5. I remember when Witt was easy money on 3rd and 12. Its time to really give the youngsters a chance.

I hope Jarwin can improve on his play. Witten is under a 1 year deal and while I do think Witten will be a plus for this team in terms of overall TE play there is no question Jarwin is faster and can do some damage down the seams. I would like to see Jarwin improve as a blocker I do think that is critical for his long term success with this team

G Bag and Fish both reported that Jarwin has looked superior to Witten. They said it's no contest. Does JG pull the old war horse for the young superior talent?

No. We will probably play Witten every down and feed him for the one yard gain 3 times and then punt. Who cares about winning when we can pad Witten’s hall of fame stats?

I don’t admit anything I couldn’t possibly know.

The question stands. Why are you looking forward to Witten failing?
So you can beat your internet message board chest while your team struggles?
What’s wrong with you?

Looking forward to Witten failing? Probably not. Knowing is almost a certainty? Yes. Pretty much.

Of course, Witten isn't going to look as good in terms of speed and agility. It's his understanding and instincts that he will be relying on at this point in his career. I think there is a place for both Witten and Jarwin to make quality contributions, that is assuming Witten hasn't dropped off even further than he had a couple of years ago. Witten doesn't have room for much more drop off and still be able to contribute.

I heard the same thing on The Fan today. As much as it pains me, because Witt is my favorite Cowboy ever, even he would be ok with what’s best for the team. If Jarwin is better, so be it, I’m sure Witt’s mentoring is invaluable.
This is just running around in shorts. When the pads go on he will step it up. Once the regular season games starts he will start leaning on people, he is old and smart enough to know when to turn it on.
