Do you think Elliott may want to be traded?

Hasn't anyone stopped to consider that Elliott may simply want out?

This holdout is obviously poorly considered on the face of it. No doubt Elliott and his representation saw what happened to Bell.

It strikes me that Elliott may simply be doing this to burn bridges and get himself traded to a team where he might feel he is more likely to win.

Random thought for the day. People crucified the guy who suggested a trade to Kansas City might be a good idea, but if I'm Elliott that is precisely what I want and I do think that it would be a trade that would help all parties.

No, I don't see that at all.

And I'm not sure if it was addressed in that other thread, but does anyone really think the Chiefs would be interested in acquiring another player with a history of domestic violence?

Or the fact that they need to save every penny they can for when they have to far and away reset the quarterback salary market for Mahomes?

Young man is posturing because his head is big. ( it is and it is) both meanings apply. The cowboys need Zeke, the numbers just need to make sense. my gut says ,he will be a cowboy.

With everything that "leaks". if he wanted to be traded it would have been out by now.
Agree. I'm not at all worried yet. Jane Slater and Mike Fisher aren't reporting what others are hearing because they want a good story for ratings and clicks. Anderson, Walker, and Leslie all say a deal is coming. Leslie was a good follow during the Zeke suspension days. I think he will be there August 6.

He’s letting jealousy get the better of him. Dallas has never said they wouldn’t “start at Gurley” money, but they planned to do it next offseason and make the upcoming class of free agents on the team the priority now. He’s throwing a tantrum because his siblings are getting a toy and his parents said his would be next pay day.

Meh, teams "say" lots of things. What if they run Zeke into the ground the next two seasons then decide he's not worth Gurley money anymore? What if Zeke blows out a knee this season? Is he still getting Gurley money?

It's very easy for fans to manage someone else's money but it's not hard to understand why any player wants paid as soon as he can get paid. We may not like how he goes about trying to get it, but if I'm the player I don't really care how much fans think I should make. I also don't lose sleep over honoring contracts when teams routinely don't honor them, either.

It's business. Try not to personalize it.

It’s not personal. It’s just what they planned to do and he is pouting to get his now instead of next offseason. If injuries dictate a lack of loyalty on making new deals Sean Lee would have been cut a while back even though for awhile he was the soul of the defense and played about 25% of the games each year. Dallas has no problem paying for leaders.

The situation with Bell is apples to oranges. Bell was a tagged franchise player. He didn’t hold out, he simply just didn’t sign a contract.

Zeke has no leverage. He’s being fined every day and has two years left on his deal. Though Jerry is negotiating in good faith (he wants to win a Super Bowl), he could have decided to play hardball, stop talking to him and fine him. Then Zeke would have to either play through to January 2021 or retire.

I think the problem with many posters is that they assume the argument made in an OP is the OPs personal opinion.

I'm just suggesting that Elliott and his representation are making an illogical move and conjecturing as to what his motives may be.

lol, he wants to be paid as the best back, then show up in the playoffs. Emmiit didn't take playoff games off..... sheesh.

Elliott ran for over 125 yards in 2 of his 3 playoff games and helped in both those wins. But let's just gloss over those...

You know Smith had 18 carries for 49 yards in a playoff game? And no this is not a slam on Smith obviously, but good players do have bad games.

Rather than create a new thread, I'll just post this here.

This move by Elliott's agent looks dumber and dumber every minute.

No one has mentioned this but I think he and his setting ( or trying at least) new contract standards for RBs, especially ones chosen in the first round. Remember how many here have suggested NOT giving RBs 2nd contracts. Ride them and spit them out, they say. Well this, I think is their answer to that theory. Play three full years and demand a new by the 4th year. Pretty telling teams don't even think about adding the 5th year option w/o major resistant UNLESS I get a new deal. Major resistant meaning you ( team ) WILL NOT get my full service for year 4 or 5.

When you think about it it makes sense, especially for with their position having the shortest life cycle of any in the league. Other words, don't surprise the demand for a new deal from RBs with one or two years left become the gold standard.

Apparently, it's not that far fetched coz Stephen is obviously in serious negotiation with their request.

Sometimes other teams play run stack defense and force the throw all game. For example, bad weather games. It happens. Even the best RBs ever will have that type of output in that case.

So if Dak stunk it up vs the Rams, would you ignore it? We lost vs the Rams because Zeke & the defense didn't show up. If Dak was a no show, I'd be pissed & others here would be the same.

Emmitt didn't take playoff games off in those SB runs, if he did, we don't win those SB's.

He just wants more money.

It's more complicated than that...Part...ego. Part... He doesn't want to be here having to put the work in during training camp...that's laziness. Have no room for that.

I've been saying it now for almost 2 years...trade him while he still has some value before he does something Joe Randle would be proud of. The guy is a moron. He's already got a pretty good rapsheet brewing...cut bait.

That's what the good franchises do...and know when to do it.
