I believe they will go for another starter. They are a very young team and can afford to give up some resources. They just sent White down to the minor leagues and because he is out of options they will lose him one way or the other. Point is, they have a bit too much talent and will not be able to keep everyone in the minors for long.

Maybe, just maybe the Astro's young starting pitching is the train-wreck they've been so far this when trying to fill spot starts as 4th & 5th starters...

Today vs. the Rangers Rogelio Armenteros went 5 innings gave up 2 hits & 1 earned run. 6K's and 2BB's.

Astros get Andre Scrubb for Tyler White in trade with the Dodgers.

Yeah, yeah. A. Scrubb. He looks to be anything but though. Very good pitching prospect and Dodgers fans aren't happy.

I visited a few Dodgers message boards and read some responses and some were even comparing it to the Alvarez for Fields trade. I'm not sure of all that and all teams have "those fans" but it was a good haul for White, all things considered.

Maybe, just maybe things aren't so dire...

Rookie Jose Urquidy went 7 innings tonight vs. the Rangers and only gave up 2 hits and 1 run.

Oh and he had 9K's and 0BB's.

His weakness is giving up HR's. If he can keep that under control (if he has to give them up, then give up solo-shots).

In the minors this season he's giving up less than 2BB per 9 innings. That's important.

The kid needs to string together a few good to OK starts and eliminate those disastrous ones.

He could be the 5th starter this team needs.

If you watched the Urquidy game, you had to come away with 2 things. One, the Strangers are nothing but a lineup of free swingers who don't hit offspeed pitches at all. Urquidy fed them mostly changes with a few fastballs to keep them off balance. He left too many up in the zone that a good hitting team would have pounded. We'll know more about him after he faces the Cards tonight. His stuff looks good if he can keep it down in the zone. Armenteros was just flat out lucky against the Strangers. It's not dire for now, but we need a solid SP for October.

Peacock has been solid as a #5 man. I agree with you though. He's better out of the pen. McHugh just doesn't have the stuff to go more than once through the lineup. I also hated the decision to have them in the rotation. We weakened the rotation and the pen at the same time. I think Luhnow wanted to get James and Valdez more experience at the MLB level, maybe to showcase for a trade. Them Devo, and Rondon have been really bad. I think Luhnow and company were arrogantly thinking they were that much better than the rest of the AL west.
That's because Hinch grossly overuses/misuses his bullpen. Devo and Rondon can both get people out, but they're not dominant. So, when you use them a ton, they get tired arms and lose that tiny bit of bite off their pitches that makes them effective in the first place.

Peacock has always done this when put in as a starter. Starts out well, but then goes to pot, just as he did this season. He was solid early, but had not been solid at all before going on IR. Just his MO.

Well, the truth is they are that much better than everyone else in the West.

Just going through a rough stretch presently.

What they have to do is match up with the Yankees... Verlander, Cole, ?, Miley. The ? is the issue. They solve that and things will be fine.

BTW if they can't get a decent starter, then bring in another reliever and move James to the starting rotation.

He seems to have sorted out his early season issues and recently pumped out 3 fastballs > 101 mph.
Agree. James seems to be the type who either pitches a 2 hitter or gives up 6 runs. Put him in, and hope he shuts 'em down at the right time!!!!

Yup.

I'm glad both gave us a good start, but neither is a long term answer.

At the moment I'd say the Astros have the best team in the AL.

The Yankees starting staff is an absolute mess.

Certainly the Astro starting staff is looking good for the playoffs.

Beer could be missed. Great bat!

Actually Houston got a pretty good haul from Toronto for Fisher.

Don't quite understand why the Blue Jays gave up that much.
