Zeke Elliot:

What should the Cowboys do: Stand their ground. We hate not seeing Zeke in camp, but the team has done such a great job sticking to their guns when it comes to preserving the team’s financials. The fallout of not having Elliott will mean the team will once again enter the season with a lot of uncertainty and inevitably have some type of impact, but setting a precedent that the team will cave under pressure and pony up extra cash, could have a greater detriment long term.

Amari Cooper:

What should the Cowboys do: Pay him. Having a great receiver is commodity that isn’t plentiful in the NFL. The team has taken steps to get one, so now they just need to finish it off by paying him

Dak Prescott:

What should the Cowboys do: Pay him. If you think talented wide receivers are rare commodities, it takes a backseat to the quarterback position. And considering how it’s the single-most influential position on the team, it pays to have one of the better ones. Dak’s a proven winner with room to grow, so the Cowboys need to make the commitment to their rising star quarterback. Prescott will go from one of the best bargains in the league to the highest-paid player in Cowboys franchise history.

Just let it all play out. See what happens. All should be fine in the next few weeks to a month.

Gee. Top player on the team. Cheapest contract of the big 3. But yeah, wait on that one.

I’m beginning to think they should let Zeke hold out as long as he wants and not pay him until next season -and either he comes back and we contend as expected or we find out for sure if Dak is worth the big money. Either way it’s a worthy outcome.

Jerry should bake a pie and give it to our triplets. Then tell them to decide for themselves which portion each gets.

That seems to be what both he and Stephen have tried to do, but players don’t want to hear that.

It’s all “give me mine, and YOU figure out how to manage the cap!” (Oh but love my teammates though!)

I would start looking at signing Byron, Jaylon and L. Collins to extensions. These guys might sign team friendly deals. Dak, if he plays well can be franchised. Zeke is under team control and can be traded during the off season. Cooper is tricky but I think they can sign him to a reasonable extension. I love Dak but you cannot pay him 30 million plus when the next draft has at least 3 prime time quarterbacks.

ITs not the player but the position he plays....

Which gets back to the question of why take a RB at 4th overall. If it's a more easily replaceable position, which is the perception and I don't entirely disagree with it, then drafting one that early doesn't make sense.

I don't see anything wrong with that. Jerry and Stephen are billionaires thanks in large part to their players. They've been billionaires longer than any player's career and will be after these guys are done playing.

It IS their job to manage the cap. It's not on the players. If Dumb & Dumber can't figure out how to do it then maybe they should be fired and replaced by people who can? Oh wait, these are the Cowboys. That doesn't happen in Jerry's World.

Math is math. You can't blame the Joneses for not being able to feed everyone with five loaves and two fish. They're not stuffing cap money in their pockets.

There's only so much salary cap money to go around. That's the way it is and that's what these players signed on for. If everybody is out for all they can get, than somebody is going to get left out. And just maybe that guy ends up being Elliott?

Why would they sign team friendly deals when they can get their money elsewhere? Zeke is not alone in all of this. They are all going to want to get paid. The only player I know of who gives team friendly deals is Brady.

None of these three should be the highest paid at their positions.

Zeke is the best, but he's a suspension waiting to happen.

Dak is a mid-tier QB, nothing more.

Cooper is not a top five receiver. Probably not even top ten. But he's the best here for sure.

These could be bloody negotiations.

Why, because for star positions, Dallas is the place to be for endorsements and no state taxes. That's a big win not only for the next few years but their whole life!

I am saying offer these guys team friendly deals. They might bite. Jaylon made a miraculous recovery. You offer enough cheddar he may not want to wait. Same for Byron who is recovering from a hip injury.
