Sorry if this has been stated elsewhere: but how much $$ has Zeke earned in his first 3 years?

He gets a career ending injury this year his payout is almost 34 million dollars with only having to play 2 full NFL seasons (would love his agent to say that to the front offices face and then say afterwords "my client is getting screwed").

His signing bonus before ever having an NFL practice was greater than Bells combined 6 year salary in the NFL......

This is what I thought, but I was not sure how the ~16 M signing bonus worked. Is the signing bonus just gravy on top of his annual earnings per contract?

He has earned 21.1mil so far.

Now, after 2017 he had to pay back 1.4mil over time due to the suspension but think that was going to be deducted from future pay.

He took home 16.8mil in 2016. 16.35mil was from that signing bonus. 450k was from his base salary.

Basically, he made bank in year 1, then 1mil in 17 and then 2.7mil in 2018

He's earned a reputation for being a knucklehead. Oh you mean financially. Can't calculate it we don't know if fines have been implemented yet.

Signing bonus is cash money he received day 1. He received the full amount cash money.

Reason teams do this is the signing bonus you can prorate the cap hits to later years but the player still gets the money upfront (it's a win win).

It's the exact reason why the steelers have dead money of 21.2 million even though Antonio brown was traded. They prorated his signing bonus to father down his contract but he's no longer on the team. You cannot trade the signing bonus, they've already committed to it

He's had a rough life - not sure how you can live on such a small salary

How much he has made makes no difference. What he's worth is the issue.

What is the going rate for the RB contract in the league? It's gonna be about 15 mill a year. Gurley gets 14.375 and that was done a year ago. Bell's deal isn't really comparable as he's several years older than Zeke and Gurley.

But by that logic literally every rookie who has a pro bowl level season or an already established player who is half way through his deal can say "oh i'm worth more, market has increased".

Yes how much he's made does factor into is negotiating. Hard for his agent to say "your screwing my clients life" when that said client would get 34 million dollars if injured this year all while only having to play 2 full NFL seasons......

I get what your saying but it's a balance of current pay and market rate. If Zeke was a 6th round pick getting 600k this year he would of already been extended. You can't say it makes no difference when it LITERALLY DOES
