How is Dak worth more than Nick Foles?

The one-sided NFL contracts some folks seem to love (except when ET held out) work against owners here.

What would Dak command on the open market? No one knows because no one else is allowed to make him an offer.

Nick Foles signed a 4 year, $88,000,000 contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including a $25,000,000 signing bonus, $50,125,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $22,000,000. In 2019, Foles will earn a base salary of $5,000,000, a signing bonus of $25,000,000, a roster bonus of $500,000 and a workout bonus of $250,000, while carrying a cap hit of $12,000,000 and a dead cap value of $45,125,000.

Foles won the Super Bowl and has made the Pro Bowl. Dark isn't worth more than Foles.

If I was going to rank the QB's. Dak is clearly in the 2nd grouping. I know we can get more granular but this is my list off the top of my head. Left to right beginning of each line. I have Dak at 14/15.
I think Jimmy G is over paid as he has done nothing other than luck into a great situation. Now if you asked me if I would take Jimmy over Dak, i would honestly say yes.
Going back to Dak, $25 -28 million just might be where his negotiation starts. But I also don't want to pay him what the guys on the top line get as I dont think he is at that level.

Brady, Mahomes, Brees, Rodgers, Wilson, Luck, Ryan, Rivers, Big Ben, Tier 1
Newton, Watson,Baker, Stafford , Dak, Jimmy G, Foles, Carr Tier2
Darnold,Murray, Winston, Mariotta, Josh Allen, Haskins, Eli Tier 3

Foles is an interesting duck.

Major hit when he first got the starting job in Philly, then regressed slowly out of the picture.

Then, went to the Rams, and crapped the bed.

Surfaced in KC in absolute obscurity, then almost retired from football.

Resurfaced in Philly as an afterthought backup to Wentz. Just cashing a check in a ball cap.

Suddenly called to duty, then caught fire and won a Super Bowl out of nowhere.

Then back to the bench, before being called to duty again and getting to the NFC championship game.

Now signed as the franchise guy in Jacksonville to try and lead that talented team with a big hole at QB.

No idea if he'll be good, or look like that guy with the Rams again.

This is a 30-for-30 waiting to happen.

How is Carson Wentz?

Foles is like Cousins or Fitz except he got hot at the right time and then was able to cash in on it.
I’d take Dak and Daks potential over Foles right now but systems are important for QB fits and success also.
By the same token per the OP, why on earth is Russell Wilson worth more than Rodgers, Brees, and Brady? That’s pretty laughable to me. How did Cousins make what he did?
It’s all timing. Without that SB run and Phlly bent on Wentz, Foles gets average money and stays in Philly.
Won’t turn it into another pro vs con Dak thread but I rate him well into the upper half of league starters and there aren’t 8 QBs I’d take over him for OUR team right now. I understand the bus driver analogies and I think we will see if they hold or not this coming season if Kellen and Wade open it up downfield like they are claiming. The handful of games where Dak has had to pull late comebacks suggest to me > bus driver.

To expand Foles doesn't have the upside Wentz and Prescott. He is what he is at this point in his career. He is a guy that can be very good in the right system, but he has also proven he needs the right system to succeed. That hurts his value
This also describes Dak.

How is Nick Foles worth the money Nick Foles is getting. He's a lollipop throw the ball up for grabs quarterback. The Cowboys have owned him his entire career. Nick Foles LMAO I mean they had to give the MVP to somebody didn't they. What a joke. Why do you think the Eagles got rid of him

He was terrible with the Rams because of their god awful head coach. Just like Goff looked god awful with that same coach. Coaching matters in this league.

They are looking to pay Dak based on his potential and not past performance, much like Wentz.

The real question is how did Nick Foles ever become a starter.

Nick foles is less than average.

One good playoff run.
One good season.
One season with more than 13 touchdown passes.

• 72 touchdowns
• 60 ints/fumbles
• 10,694 yards combined
• 1592 touches (passes/rushes)

Vs

• 85 Touchdowns
• 50 ints/fumbles
• 11,820 yards combined
• 1664 touches (passes/rushes)

So that’s...

• 66 more touches
• 13 more TDs
• 10 fewer ints/fumbles
• 1,126 more yards
• that’s 17 yards per touch on the extra yardage.

So one guy scores more and turns it over less, yet he’s constantly talked about as a much lesser player. The first player just signed for the most guaranteed money of any QB ever, Wentz. The second is Dak.

I have no issue paying a QB. Especially one who wins, scores, doesn’t turn it over, shows up and steps up in the clutch situations and has zero off field or health concerns.

Well, to be fair to the guy.....

He had a season with 27 touchdowns and 2 ints.
He won a Super Bowl.
He went to an NFC divisional game.
He's 4-2 in the playoffs with both losses coming by a total of 8 points.

Very hot and cold.

I love Dak but he’s an average NFL QB.

The fact we are offering top 5 money is crazy. The fact he isn’t taking top 5 money is crazier.
yup I agree hes ranked 10-15 and turned down a top 5 offer, same with Amari, whats wrong wit ht egos on these guys..is that not enough?

Zeke and IDC about him being a RB since 2016

2 rushing championships and would have had 3 in a row, 3!! had it not been for the 6game suspension but even that year led in YPG so it was going to happen..

1st in attempts
1st in yards
1st in YPG
2nd in RTDs

if his top pay hes demanding is say 15 and the DC already offered Dak 30 and Aamri 17 and this forum is saying no way you pay a RB that, sorry Zekes not just rb hes an Elite Player who highly produced and doesnt sit out hurt.. his pay is less and hes better , arguably bets on team when you add in receiving etc blocking 3 down back, seriously all the disdain on trade him, he wants whats due and protecting himself from being used u and cut on his rookie deal..i cant blame him given those FACTS..

Fact on the hate for the holdout ESmith held out before he signed his rookie deal and after 3 yrs , sound familiar? right SBS made people fuzzy on details from the past, Zekes protecting his future and I hope we sign all 3 but Zeke and Jerry please find a middle ground and end this debacle..
