Sign Zeke. 14.5M/year, all the guaranteed money in the first 3 years.

Sign Cooper. 18M/year range.

March 2020: Tag and Trade Prescott. Some team without a longterm QB will inevitably go 7-9 (thus be out of the running for Tua/Herbert) and trade a 1st and 3rd (or better) for Prescott before the 2020 draft.

Re-sign Jaylon Smith and Byron Jones at market value. Consider extending a guy like Awuzie if he balls out.

In 2020, Draft heavy on defense in the secondary and Dline, especially in the early rounds.

Roll with Rush and White as your starting QBs for the 2020 season. Don't bring in a has-been like a Fitzpatrick or Bradford type. See what the young guys have.

Ideally, have the best defense in the NFL and still go around 3-13 in 2020 due to bad QB play. 2015 season redux, without the promising start and the glimmers of hope from Romo "when will he return"?

April 2021: Draft Trevor Lawrence.

Have the best young QB in the league on a rookie deal, the best offensive line in football, the best defense in football, and the best running back in football... plus a top 5 WR in Cooper and another stud in Gallup out there. Perfect situation for the most surefire QB prospect to come out since Peyton Manning.

Open up a new 5+ year window at the top of the hill with a top 5 QB on a rookie contract.

BINGO!!!!!

No way Dak fetches a 1st rounder unless he wins the MVP and then you wouldn't do this to begin with....
Garoppolo got a 1st rounder for next to no experience... Bradford got a mid 1st rounder and he sucks and is oft injured.

Prescott could get a 1st rounder from someone. Miami is a team that comes to mind if they really don't like Rosen. Tampa... Tennessee are other possibilities. Denver if they sour on Lock a very good possibility.

+1 would likely only get a mid round pick for Dak.
Also what pick you get back for Dak doesn't truly change the equation. Worst case scenario is you get a bottom 3rd for letting him walk, but no way a young QB with multiple seasons of starting experience would be only worth that. You still get to draft Lawrence in 2021 regardless because of your down 2020 season due to the plan of starting Rush/White.

Too much talent on this team to be tanking for Lawrence....

Ah. I was wondering what the crazy was about. Tank and draft a new QB. I'd rather bring in some running QBs for 2020.

More likely scenario is just letting Dak walk and trading some picks(like the Eagles, Rams, others have done) to move up in the 2020 draft to grab a QB they like. Maybe Fromm, Herbert, Tua, etc. Then pair that QB with Zeke for 3 years under a rookie deal.

Their only opportunity to trade Dak was if they would’ve put him back on the shelf when Romo was healthy in 2016 and then moved him to a team like the Browns in the offseason. His value was never higher.

If Dallas could trade three #1 draft picks and move up to draft Trevor Lawrence in 2021 the dynasty would be back.

First off no one knows how Lawrence finishes his college career or how he will do in the pros. Next, if the entire team stays the same and the only change is QB then why the hell are you getting rid of Dak? That makes no damn sense at all, you Dak haters say how it's the team that carries Dak but then said the team only wins 3 games without him. Zeke, Cooper, OL, defense is all the same....... Do you not see how stupid that is

Its because once you pay Dak you cant pay everyone else and the next QB being on a rookie contract will enable Dallas to keep al their stars and good depth players. With a young QB on a rookie contract they could even bring in a couple big name FAs.

This guy represents the Cowgles. He is, by his own admission, an Eagles fan and a Cowboys fan. I told him we don't like half hearted fans on this site. But he did mention Trevor Lawrence in 2021 so I won't rip him too hard for this thread.
