Because it's smarter to pay Clowney than Zeke.... that's the entire discussion.
Totally disagree, add the fact that Zeke will ultimately command more and he's the only thing keeping Dak semi-relevent, and we need Zeke way more.

Lol. Just ridiculously wrong statement.

Can't believe people post this stuff.

That would be a beautiful thing for our defense, but it would further much up the dilemma of how to pay everyone we want to keep. Clowney has been franchised, and so far has chosen not to sign the tag, and even if he does we will be in the same boat next year with Clowney wanting a big long term contract.

so when the Eagles find a way, we will get ripped for not going ALL IN this season.. dont we want a SB at all cost now? its what the eagles did ONE YEAR, they were be applauded by Cowboys Zone for being aggressive and not caring about the future, just go for it.. We are a player or two away , this could be the Season, bring Zeke back go for every player you feel can help and a stud player the opposite of Tank could be the missing piece on Defense, dont need great Dbs with great pass rush. sure its risk but it does solve the LC being up next year for signing puts Cwil over at rights and work ConnerM I at LG? seems like win for this

FYI ..the 90s Cowboys brought in hired short term gun in Haley and Dion to out them over the top..i know different ERA but with all the Haze of the Amari, DAk, ZEKE, BJ, BROWN, Jsmith contracts all coming up, well we might want to use this year get all of them some help and go for broke for SB 2020!! thats this years sb btw..

time is now, the process talk is over we have lame duck coach and a bunch of big contracts up and will lose some players, no more build for the long term..this is the Millenial Era build for today pay the bill tomorrow..:)):thumbup::flagwave::popcorn:

1. Haley and Deion played for the Cowboys 5 years each. They were not “short term” solutions, and cannot be compared to guys in their last contract year.

2. Clowney is on a one year franchise tag that so far he is refusing to sign, Zeke has 2 years and is holding out, and Dak, Cooper, Byron Jones and Jaylon Smith are all in their last contract year.

3. There was no salary cap in the early 1990’s, plus contracts were more team friendly.

4. What makes so sure the Eagles will “find a way”. They didn’t 2 of the last 3 years, and 2017 by itself is not a pattern.

5. A Super Bowl wouldn’t be guaranteed even with Clowney, especially if Clooney refuses to play under the franchise tag and if we have to cut off negotiating with Zeke to pay Clowney, and Zeke never reports to the team.

6. We could blow any SB chance for a number of years if the wheels come off after our one year “all in”. It could end up being the bleak years like after the 1990s Super Bowl era, except without the Super Bowl wins.

BUT The Eagles sold out for a SB, like I said wouldn't you the Fans here keep complaining about lack of NFCG and SB appearances..if it only works a year it gets a us another ring, shuts the fans up and we can worry about 2020 when it gets here..it worked for yr SB wise but they still competed last year same round exit as us with backup QB..id say it worked because it got them a ring and they still are in the mix.. we need a change in out thought process, the process hasn't truly worked, lest sell out be aggressive

Im sick of the grumbling about the last 30yr drought..time for new direction..

in fairness, I said their first 3 seasons. not the last three.
Which do you think is a bigger indicator of the future? Their most recent three seasons or their first three seasons in the NFL?

At this point it wouldn't shock anyone if Zeke gets suspended next month for something new.

Zeke and a mid round pick for Clowney. Who says no?

Zeke and a draft pick for Clowney are you serious? Clowney has missed 18 games with injuries and only has 29 career sacks. He’s never lived up to his draft position. No way would trading our best offensive player and a draft pick for an injury prone DE make the Cowboys a better team. Get real!
