Wonder when people will understand that the NFL is a business and teams will be here 20 years from now with fans, so they will all try to get the most money they can. That has no bearing on them wanting to win it all every year. If you have ever played sports you would know that is true.
Maxing out contracts keeps teams from winning it all. Trying to get the absolute most you can get and wanting to win do not go together, no matter how much people keep proclaiming that it does.

Just get rid of the salary cap so everyone can get paid what they are worth and no more of these threads that wanting to get paid as much as you can is a character flaw...

The salary cap is a big part of the reason why there is so much money to go around.

Most players dont care about winning a championship. Its about the money.
And that's really sad I would give my left one just to go out there and play an NFL game , probably should make sure my life insurance is paid up to LOL!

Apparently you've never worked for a union. Generally unions to not entertain the philosophy of every man for himself......grab everything you can get at the expense of your union brothers. But that's what you're promoting and defending.

"It's not my job to worry about the salary cap" while technically true, is a lame excuse for short term, self centered greed at the expense of the team and your team mates.
Once again, yall trying to apply "real world" situations to professional sports. IT'S NOT THE SAME THING LOL!

So- by that logic, the guy who deserts his post in combat for his own welfare is absolutely in the right even though his action is to the detriment to the squad, platoon, company, etc ..?
This is professional sports, not combat...I think the stakes are a little bit lower lol.

Since yall like to compare professional sports to real world employment, i'll play along. These guys will probably NEVER work a "real job" a day in their lives once their playing days are done. In order to accomplish that, it's in their best interests to maximize their paydays. A lot of the guys are also providing for their families but I know we got a lot of "bootstrap" fans who don't understand that.

Most of the offensive linemen were signed a few years ago. They were probably the highest paid when they signed their contracts, but other offensive linemen have signed better contracts, so you don't know whether they gave the team a break.

Romo didn't take a paycut for the team too, but didn't get half the threads Daks getting.

Romo broke the bank while he was here and didn’t deliver on that massive contract either. We shouldn’t have paid him with his injury history and lack of doing anything amazing in the playoffs.

Spoken like a fan, not someone who has spent years working his way to the NFL and for whom this is his job.

And for the love of all things holy, please don't dredge up the QB married to the $400 million super model. He's an anomaly.

I've negotiated nine collective bargaining agreements (representing management). If you think the union reps sitting at the table aren't putting their personal interests first I have some very bad news for you.

Absolutely, that's what I am.

However, my point remains. Insisting on maxing out your contract and wanting to win championships do not go together.

A person can easily retire on around 4 mil. So, for the love of all things holy, please don't dredge up the "need as much as possible to live the rest of his life on". It doesn't take 100 million.
