I thought this guy looked good tonight and moved quick for a TE.

He had 4 catches for 20 yards and had a catch for about 10 yards called back for a penalty.

Had not heard of him at all before tonight.

Any chance he is the 4th TE?

With the way the WR unit is shaping up, Dallas may be able to only go with 3 TEs to make a spot for Devin Smith and Cedrick Wilson.

Lucas looked good, but I think McElroy is still ahead of him. But hope 1 or both get to the PS. And agree, hope they only go 3 TE's, as well, only 2 QB's. So they can keep another WR as in Smith, and another DL.

McElroy did himself a big favor tonight by displaying his ability to award the Dallas offense with some timely and significant gains.

He might not make the final 53 to quality for a spot on the active roster but he should be able to win a spot on the practice squad.

As far as Lucas is concerned, his average catch went for 5 yards. That not something altogether likely to get the staff too excited.

Reality is every time he caught the ball there was someone about 12 inches away from him to make the tackle. He was more of a checkdown then anything else. Be interesting to see if there is anything in his route tree beyond the checkdown.

There'll be two more preseason games to determine that. It will ultimately come down to what he does then and what the staff thinks of it. As far as what happened last night, it was probably advantage, McElroy. In any case, they'll likely just be vying for a spot on the practice squad.

No chance sadly..

If they go 4, they’ll keep McElroy.

If they go 3, they’ll use Brown to be the H back

Lucas can’t go to PS
He’s been in the league for 5 years
Can’t imagine he’s still eligible

He has almost always been on practice squads.

It does not appear that he has any accrued seasons.

Having said that, I think they've been reporting that Jameill Showers is out of ps eligibility and Showers has been in the league 1 year less than Lucas.

It seemed to me, like the #7 had a pretty good working relationship with that #84

*and I saw that Jamil Showers make a solid tackle/ stop & was like "alright"
I think we ought to hang onto him somehow& only roll with 2 qb's on the roster ,having him in the shadows, as even Beasley was on that immediate/Short q.b. contingency list

He's JAG material. I can't even say he's a journeyman because he hasn't even been on an NFL regular season roster as I understand. He's a body on the side if injuries occur.
if the need isn't as dire, people come cut him from their practice squad .. while another team places him on their practice squad.
if he were any good then why has he not been on the 53 roster of an NFL team.
i have to wonder if he's eligible for another team's practice squad, if he is, i wouldn't surprised if he ended up being on our own practice squad.
