How do you bring in Bailey when he’s under contract with the Vikings? Maybe you look at the guy Dan is beating out in Minny after cutdowns.

They just said on Vikings/Seahawks broadcast that Bailey is in a kicking competition. So it is possible he could be cut if the other kicker is lights out.

The last update I read Bailey was kicking pretty well. I was thinking damn it'd be a shame if he turned it around and went back to his old self on another team. Id be happy for him but super jelly that he wasn't our kicker. He was good for my blood pressure for many years.

Maher is going to cost us a game and I feel uneasy even when he makes his kicks.

I would bring in Bailey or Bryant to challenge Maher for the job

Update: I just realized that bailey is still with the vikes

I still say bring in Bryant

DOH! Only got down to your update after getting my hopes up on Bailey. Wrote a whole post and everything.

Bryant wouldn’t be brought in to challenge Maher. If he is brought in Maher will be gone.

Dan Bailey is a 78% kicker the last three seasons, and is still on the Vikings. We all loved "Money" Bailey but he hasn't been that guy since 2015.
He was, though, when healthy. Last year is the only year he was off under normal circumstances.

Having said that Maher's miss last night wasn't too worrisome. I heard it was very windy and long distance kicks were going to be tough. Even Greg "The Leg" Zuerlein missed one and he's usually money from 50-plus yards.
I've said all along there should be competition at every position on the team and that includes kicker.

The wind at yesterdays game was a far bigger issue than most realize.

Minnesota traded a 5th round pick to Baltimore for a rookie kicker in Ravens camp. So far, the Vikings have him punting and Bailey kicking (the rook was kicking in Baltimore).

They may end up keeping Bailey and cutting their punter, knowing this rookie can also kick.

If our offense is as loaded as it appears to be, and if Moore is the genius we hear he is, we won't have to rely on the kicker to win us the majority of games.

A ton of NFL games are close. Was even true for the Triplet Cowboys. You can see a season slip away simply because of your kicker. That said, there's no "Dial-800" or online store for quality kickers.

That's the thing about the criticism of Bailey. Kickers can lose themselves because of injuries, the yips, etc., and then find themselves again. It doesn't look like he's had a great camp, though, from what I could find but the Vikings also have been testing out different holds and long snappers.

Maher would need to beat Bailey on a nationally televised contest . Live.

Make it happen . Jerrah .
