Could it be that if Taco showed something, DE Quinn could be let go assuming Quinn's contract can void if he is suspended (don't know if this is the case)?

Good point about Quinn's suspension probably voiding the guarantees on Quinn's contract.

Quinn's contract is weird. Almost like the Cowboys saw this coming. He didn't get a signing bonus. Who doesn't some kind of signing bonus? Especially with vets with some positive history? It was all guaranteed salary, but only game roster bonuses.

Anyone really know if Quinn's contract guarantees voided with his suspension?

Dolphins had already given him a $1million roster bonus to help facilitate a trade. Not sure about guarantees.

  • Good to once again see Taco Charlton making plays. I can see his confidence continue to grow with each series. He might not have had a great night rushing the quarterback, but his ability to knock those passes down along the line of scrimmage is showing me that he’s doing a better job of freeing himself from blockers -- which is something that he’s struggled with in his career.
Told ya!

But wasnt he already under contract with Miami? We basically only wanted to pay a portion of his contract, miami pays the rest. Thats why no signing bonus i think.

Quinn has an $8M cap hit this year for the Cowboys, $6M of which is guaranteed.

Miami isn't "paying the rest".

The Dolphins have a cap hit of $1,121,211 in dead money this year. That's not actually money paid to Quinn, that's the accelerated prorated signing bonus hit left from his previous deal with them.

He got a one-year deal with $6M guaranteed, another $2M in likely to be earned bonuses. He was still under contract with the Dolphins and had no guarantees for this year,

that pass-interference review rule is going to ruin some games this year. Just like "holding", pass interference and illegal contact happens on every single pass play and now the officials are going to arbitrarily decide when THEY want to enforce it.

*that's* the point. He was under an existing contract that we traded for from Miami, hence no signing bonus from us. That all makes sense now.
