I agree with the assessment. But there's really no need to over analyze it. The pass wasn't perfect but not all passes are. Dak and Gallup made the big play on third down. That's all that needs to be said.

I don't see every other QBs passes analyzed as much as Daks.
That became people are fishing for something. Was a good play. Is it the play Gallup jumped up and caught. His foot almost came down out of bounds the way he had them spread out in the air..

Is anyone going to talk about the negative play?

Dak took the sack which could have killed the whole drive. It was totally avoidable .... certainly by a 4th year QB.

If we are going to have fair evaluation, shouldn't this be deducted from his positive plays. He is rightfully getting credit for his good plays but i haven't heard anyone mention this play.

That was very alarming. That is the part of his game I want him to improve on. He had to see the guy coming and should have thrown it away. He is gonna get himself hurt.

He had immediate pressure directly in his face because somebody totally screwed up their assignment and didn’t even put a hand on the rusher.

Maybe he could have thrown it away. But he literally has pressure in his face immediately.

This wasn’t one of the scenarios where Dak just held the ball way too long.

Some sacks have been on Dak. This one wasn’t IMO. Those things are going to happen when the pass protection allows a free blitzer to go untouched toward the QB.

That's how i saw it. He saw the play was doomed & could have dumped it at Witten's feet and perhaps not even been taken to the ground.

Dink and Dak’s idea of the “back shoulder throw” is a lobbing an underthrown pass. I’m sure that will work during the regular season

Of course it will work.

It was 1 on 1 coverage and Dak gave Gallup a 50/50 chance at the ball. That was a classic Dez Bryant play.

That is difficult for a DB to guard in single coverage against a WR like Gallup.

Agreed. It won’t work every time. But sometimes a QB just has to give their receiver a chance and trust them to come down with the ball.

One of Dak’s weaknesses IMO has been the fact that he doesn’t throw up 50-50 balls enough to give his receivers a chance. I am hopeful
He does that more often in 1 on 1 situations.

Oh yeah. It wasn’t a bad throw by any means.

I’m sure some will say it was. But it wasn’t.

Not perfect. But a good ball.

Looking at the replay, he looks like he was trying to throw more of a back shoulder type

The sack and little throwaway was far from perfect though - not a good move trying to get rid of that in that fashion

If the DB is chasing it is going to work 9 times out of 10.

He needs to go to the Eli Manning school of throwing 3 yrds behind the WR's feet. How he has never gotten an intentional grounding for his crap is beyond me.

Maybe someone told Dak that they'd rather see it underthrown then overthrown.

For the past 3 years Eli doesn't let anyone get within 5 yards before he puts that baby in the dirt. We joke about it all the time around here. I live in Oxford, MS which is where Ole Miss is located so most people are Eli fans which makes it even funnier that no one denies it.
