He is under contract for 2020 also. He would have to remain on the 53 for both 2019 and 2020 before his free agency could result in a comp pick.

He has value to other teams but 7M and a pick seems a bit steep.
- He projects best to Strong Side DE in a 4-3 or to 3-4 DE.
- DLaw is the Strong Side DE for the Cowboys which pushed him to DT/RDE.

Is he worth 1/3 of what Tank is? IDK. He isn’t in Tank’s league, obviously, but is Tank worth 3 of him? IDK.

I really like Tank the player, but I really don’t like the contract. Crawford’s contract has been a less than ideal contract for the Cowboys but we have pretty much misused him his entire career.

Inflation has made his contract a pretty reasonable contract for a DE, if he can play at a satisfactory level. That all remains to be seen obviously, but some team could probably use him, at his contract level if he is an average NFL starter.

I wouldn't be comfortable trading an O Lineman until I see McGovern healthy and on the field.

Regarding the D Line, if Gregory and Quinn weren't suspended, Taco could have been trade candidate. I like what I'm seeing from Armstrong so far, and he looks like he's put on healthy weight.

Another if..IF Trysten Hill was the player the FO made him out to be and he'd put on a good camp, you could move Maliek Collins and try to get something him for him sooner than the likely 2021 compensatory pick.

No one values Tyrone Crawford as highly as this team does.

I don't think trading Taco is a good idea. What's his trade value? He's showing some flash this pre season. I'd hate to so him tear it up on another team and we get a 6th rounder in return. The Cowboys have zero to lose by holding on to him one more season. Nothing to gain by trading him now.

Yeah, Taco isn’t going anywhere. He’s improving and you never know what’s going to happen long term opposite of Lawrence.

This year will make or break him. Ends usually turn it up year three.

The only asset I movable assets I see are Looney, Crawford and Taco.

Looney is worth more to us in a win-now year than he is to most other teams, I don't see him being traded. Crawford might appeal to a couple teams that have more cap space than talent - San Francisco jumps to mind. Based on what I've seen the last 2 years, I'd trade a half inflated football for Taco, but the coaching staff might see something with him that we don't.

Looney is a “starter grade” backup. He may be worth a 3rd if a team needs a good guard or center and is a contender. Maybe just a 4th, but I wouldn’t let him go for less than a 3rd unless the rookie is healthy and good to go.

What's it going to be then, eh?

A lot has changed in two weeks since Hill said this.

I don't think they are inclined to explore trades with either line. Injuries and suspensions have had their effect.

The D Line has 6 potential free agents after this season:

DE Robert Quinn
DE/DT Kerry Hyder
DT Maliek Collins
DT Antwaun Woods (restricted)
DT Christian Covington
DT Daniel Ross

...one potential cap casualty in Tyrone Crawford ($8M in 2020 cap savings) and how knows what with Randy Gregory.

The D Line next season will look very different. Could be a priority for 2020 draft.

I would think our best trade asset would be Looney. But do you want to trade Looney? Filo yes, but what could get for him.

On the DL, Charlton is probably starting the first 2 weeks so I doubt they will dangle him.
Hyder!

We aren't going to flip coal for a diamond. If we want a solid player in return, we need to give up Looney. There is a reason Filo was sitting around without a job last year.

Karl Joseph seems like an obvious target. However, this FO prides itself on identifying and trading for some obscure David Canter client you've never heard of who is about to get cut.

Come on down Andrew Soroh (Chiefs).
Why do people still mention Karl Joseph.

He's not good.

Why do people still mention Karl Joseph.

He's not good.

Young, inexpensive, position of need, and was very good the last half of last season.

"Joseph was a tone-setter for the defense who recorded 42 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception in the last eight games of the year. He looked like a completely different player as he was flying all over the field, playing with an incredible amount of confidence.

Joseph finished the year as Pro Football Focus’ 23rd-ranked safety, improving dramatically in coverage and in tackling."

He's better than what we have.
Based on?

Joseph isn't good. If he was, they wouldn't be so actively trying to replace him. He'd be a great player in 2002, but that's not where the league is. The position of box safety is dead, and that's what he is. He plays the defensive equivalent of blocking fullback.

I hope it is not Looney because I love that dude and also they need to be 100% certain Travis is back.
I agree, I don't want to trade Frederick's insurance policy. Looney played well last year.
