Think whatever you want about Zeke and his holdout but the statement from Jerry was disrespectful and unprofessional coming from a man of his standing. Zeke has kept his mouth pretty firmly shut throughout this process, letting his agent handle the negotiation. Jerry needs to do the same.

Putting performance aside, if any of you can do that, I don’t see how anyone can support this chump.

He doesn't look at it like that, he looks at it as doing something for himself. Bell looked at it the same way, didn't work out like he hoped it would and may not for Elliott but he's going to try.

Take into consideration this is coming from the team that ran Murray's legs off in his contract season and then insulted him with that offer.

What exactly is he doing to the team? Anything any one of them wouldn't do under the same circumstances? I do agree with Elliott and his agent, he's been the best workhorse in the game for 3 seasons and that was not funny and it was disrespectful to a guy that's been there every game for Booger.
Well...not every game.

Elliot can be offended if he wants. Offer him 1 dollar more than gurly contract. If he don’t take it then trade him or let him sit for the next 2 years.

What would be funny is if the season starts and Pollard can run well behind this O-Line. Gains some confidence. Let Elliot go somewhere that don’t have a great O-Line.

Per Mort at :espn:

Funny that his agent is claiming that he's still in Los Cabos. Did he fly back already?

I don’t find it funny that Zeke is holding out demanding a new deal with two years left on his contract. It would be nice if he’d cut the childish BS during the off season, get to camp, help win his team a SB and then next off season maybe he’d get his deal.

Jerry is an idiot.

Welcome to Dallas, Zeke.

Kept his mouth shut? Not showing up to camp with 2 years left on his contract is about as disrespectful as it gets. Did he really need to say anything? He could have showed up to camp and had private talks with Jerry about contracts while he was preparing with his TEAM for the upcoming season. But no, he grabbed the headlines by pouting like the little big headed baby he is and not showing up for work.

Pretty sure the fan base and FO would not find the humor in Zeke making the quip "Dallas who?" or "Cowboys who?" while he is holding out or right before he asks to be traded. So...I get it.

Jerry did clean it up after but the headline doesn't give the rest of his statement. Therefore, watch what you say during any negotiations.

Sure hope Jerry, the other owners and Goodell don't say anything stupid that causes the new CBA to be stalled or leads to a lockout or strike.

If Pollard does well it is really going to go sideways. Jerry will take the offer off the table and look for a trade.

That's what will add some urgency on Zeke's side. He has to be concerned that we could roll into the season and not miss a beat with Pollard. No one knows for sure but they say they've offered him top RB money.

That's a poor recollection of what happened. Reality was

1. They offered him a 4 year extension after the 2013 season and he literally said "no I want to jack my value up/gamble this year". The 4 year extension was offered literally after his 1st full season starting.

and

2. Cowboys offer at the end of the 2014 season was exactly in line with the two other bidders at the time (Oakland and Jacksonville). Philly literally came out of nowhere and almost doubled what all 3 teams offered. There's nothing the cowboys can do when a front office/head coach that ended up FIRED does stupid impulse buying like that

Honest question....did you read the whole transcript of the interview? I ask because Jerry made it very clear that he was only having fun and that he saw Pollard as a compliment to Zeke not a replacement.

Guy who no shows training camp with years left on his deal on a team that has had his back off the field too many times feels disrespected.
How have they had his back? They wanted him to play and his owner spoke out after being misinformed. He's carried the ball more than any back since he came into the league, think he might have repaid them for having his back?

Much has been made about this two years left on his contract, what does that matter? One year has been the standard but so what, they optioned him so this would have been his one year.

The rules are the contract for rookies cannot be altered in the first 3 years. What he is doing is completely within the rules.

I didn't notice all of this empathy for the players that have been cut with "years" left on their contract.

If one cannot be objective about this, then one can't see both sides of this. And let's be aware of the fact that they brought this new contract up, he didn't. They also let it be know that they've offered 10X what he will make in 2019 to the QB. You know, the one that isn't worth a damn without the RB. All of this isn't taking place in a vacuum.

You'll go from a multiple time rushing champion to Pollard and not miss a beat?

I feel like I've failed you guys.
