Trade for Garrett Gilbert

I don't know what we'd have to give for him, I just know neither of our backup QBs are worthy. Gilbert was leading the AAF in passer rating when it became defunct. He was signed by the Browns, as continues to show up. In his second preseason game, against the Colts, Garrett had a 107 rating. I know it was against 2nd teamers, but so was the play of White & Rush, and they both bombed. The Browns won't put him on waivers because someone will scoop him up, so how much would you give for him?

Absolutely nothing, and I highly doubt anyone would claim him off of waivers, because that means putting him on their active roster.

The guy is 28 years old not some undiscovered young guy.

Wasn't this a guy who transferred to a small college because he wasn't good enough to start for a major college program?

"Trade"???

They like their guy Cooper Rush.

Rather get a young guy to place on PS and develop under Kitna.

Nick Mullens is the only guy worth trading for. To acquire him would probably cost too much though.

That or see what Miami does with Fitzmagic.

Good ole squints. He’d look at wide open receivers, pump, then throw to a triple covered guy when at Texas.

I'm sorry. Is Dak hurt? Well then let's cross that bridge when the time comes. Dak can be the next QB with 160 consecutive starts.

Yeah it's Cooper Rush for this year.

I think next year if you want to go looking for backup QB's then go look in the draft again.

Do not go and sign one of these failed experiments. The draft is the lottery. You might find the next bigtime NFL QB by accident.

Oh, I agree. It appears the QB spot is set for season. I picture having 3 QBs for 2020...a guy they can develop on PS, a guy drafted in 2020 draft with a premium pick, Rush and Dak.

LOL.... How long you been watching the Cowboys, just asking?

I'm thinking 2015 and Tony Romo goes down. We went from 12-4 in 2014 to 4-12 in 2015 because we took the approach of "Let's cross that bridge when the time comes." I think it's wise to do that now because later, there is a really good chance you have less talent available and you end up paying even more for lessor talent if you wait.

Some people are like hey.... Let's replace a guy who might not step onto the field with a guy who might not step on the field, case we need a guy to step onto the field, if Dak goes down.

Really? That's a lot of unknowns.
Stick to the devil you know. JMO.
