Who was the other back(s) he shared the workload with on those Memphis teams? Are they in the league also?
DeMarco did carry a heavy load in college. Pollard played a role due to his all around ability. IMO he was the best back on that Memphis team and will proved to be that in the NFL.

Was watching the Rams game and there were a few times I said that looks like Murray. I also remember how Murray use to destroy the Rams. They both are built pretty similar Murray is listed 6 ft 213 lbs at combine and Pollard is listed at 6 ft 210. Murray was faster 4.41 vs Pollard 4.52 but I think Pollard plays faster than 4.52 their broads and verts were very similar. Sure would be nice if Pollard can play like Murray. Until I looked at Pollard I thought he was just a scat back but now after taking a new look and watching in preseason I think he has true potential.
Pollard ailing at the combine.
He's WAY faster than 4.52. That's probably the slowest he's been timed since his sophomore year in high school

I'd say he he's about a 4.42 guy...or something slightly higher than the always inflated Pro day number.

- seems like you're basing the comparisons between Pollard and Murray off mere 40 times, and that's just not a testament of what is translated as play-speed on the actual playing field.
Murray wasn't a breakaway back, he wasn't a zeke or Adrien Peterson that was a quick six homerun hitter (aside from that freak 91 yrd run vs Rams, ..ironically ditto with Alf vs same team)
Demarco was a serviceable workhorse back with vision and tackle breaking strength. but he wasn't ever feared because of his playing speed. Because the team.

backup Mike Weber ran the exact 40 time as zeke at the NFL combine (4.47) but its so obvious that Weber doesn't have anywhere the burst and breakaway speed that zeke has and so feared.

- and why is somel keep reverting back to what Pollard ran at the NFL combine, despite suffering reported food poisoning, but reportedly turned in a 4.38 time on his pro day ?

really? you just had to bring up the ever injured lance? :)
Hey man, I liked him. he was a good player minus said injuries. He's a little smaller, but I can see some similarities.

Just to clarify. The he didn't do it in college was about Pollard.

The narrative around Pollard is he might not be able to handle a heavy load in the NFL because he didn't do it in college. Murray was a bell cow in college but he kept getting hurt. So when he came into the NFL he was already labeled as injury prone, thusly unable to carry a heavy load.

And just like DeMarco Murray many people think Pollard cant handle a heavy work load. He didn't do it in college. He didn't do it in college. That's what they keep saying. Well Aaron Rodgers didn't play on a pro-style offense in college and look at how that turned out.

If I'm saying give Pollard a chance then by the laws of logic I also have to give Hill a chance. Preemptive limitations are not logical.

DeMarco Murray didn’t do it in college?

You all did see the clear block he missed that caused the sack and put us in 2 and 22 right? You all do realize this was against 2nd and 3rd team players? Not to mention that its preseason.... just cause he runs fast doesn't mean he's a great or even good RB. Streeetwise said it above Dunbar ran a 4.4

Lets pump our breaks and get Zeke back and then lets see what the youngster can do. Make no mistake though this team goes as Zeke goes.

Pollard is a legit 4.3 guy. He was recovering from food poisoning at the combine, which resulted in an unusually slow time. Ran much faster at his pro day.

The brass has said from the beginning that he could run between the tackles.

Some doubt him primarily because he wasn’t asked to carry the load at Memphis. We’ll see. If he can do it we’ve got a guy without much wear and tear on him.
Ran 4.37 at pro day.

If you run 4.38 at your pro-day you're not a legit 4.3 guy. Combine runs always seem to be 0.02-0.04 seconds slower.
Wrong.

The conversion is hand held time vs Automatic time at combine. It is .14

So add that to his 4.37 pro day time.

Tony Pollard ran a 4.38 forty.
- He had food poisoning at the combine. It's well documented.
