I know this is different but if I were to leave and don't show up when my employer expected to see me for whatever reason, I would have a red dot by name and the employer would act like they don't know me no matter how good of a worker I was.

I find it absolutely hilarious they are talking about disrespect. How about showing respect to the guy that stuck his neck out for you when you missed 6 game because of your poor choice in women and not holding out with 2 years left on your deal?

In fairness, Jerry was looking out for himself and his team. If it had been Rod Smith he wouldn't have worried about it.

You're right. It's different. Hence, it has no merit in this discussion really.

I laughed at "stuck his neck out". Really, just how did he do that? The moron called Bryant passionate for leaving the field before the gun and Hardy a leader for slapping the clipboard out of a coach's hand. Who in the hell takes this clown seriously? Most assume he's drunk.

He went off some bad info, from the NFL investigator I believe, shot his mouth off, got embarrassed and reacted against Goodell and was further embarrassed when the other owners gave Goodell a raise.

As usual, this is a situation that would best be resolved out of the media's prying eyes. Talking to them never improves anything, especially with a moron that has to have his rambling interpreted.

Some are getting hooked into this drama because there's far too much emotion involved. Look at the fuller quote from this story:

"After last week's preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers, Jerry Jones said Tony Pollard has shown he could be an every-down back. On Sunday, the owner and general manager was asked if Pollard is the best negotiating ploy the Cowboys have in talks with Ezekiel Elliott. "Zeke who?" Jones joked. Pollard had 51 yards on the Cowboys' first drive that ended with his 14-yard touchdown run. "He knows exactly what to do, and he knows how to do it, so it is, he goes out there and he plays to that level," Jones said. "If he continues this through the next several weeks, he's going to be right in the middle of it early, and that will really complement what we're doing with Zeke. Not replace that. And I mean that, not replace that. Nobody's getting cute here, but it'll certainly be a great complement … I can picture those guys same sets at the same times out there and really giving those defenses fits."

Seems to me that Jerry's "Zeke who" was more of a dodge like, "I don't want to talk about negotiations" and then goes on to talk about how Pollard could be a complement for Zeke, not a replacement. As seen from this story's reference of Jerry's earlier quote, it actually looks like a softening on Jerry's part and talking like a deal will get done and Zeke will be there. I get that the deny Zeke anything crew won't want to see that. Zeke's agent now is just playing up the joke Jerry made that looks more damning when you take it by itself and not look at the rest to make it look like they're not pleased and that negotiations are more adversarial than they actually are. This is also a negotiating tactic meant to have more eyes on the situation to add pressure. Totally choreographed. But trigger-happy emoting machines won't see that either.

This.

Of course, Jerry should have been smart enough to know what the media would focus on and use as a headline.
I knew they would end up twisting this. Cherry picking what they want. Now Elliot and his agent is booty hurt.

If he isn’t ready to go and playing in the first game then I would be offended if I am JJ. He signed the contract and cashed the checks.

You'll go from a multiple time rushing champion to Pollard and not miss a beat?

I feel like I've failed you guys.
Obviously we're better with a multiple rushing champion RB but what if the offense looks good without him.

It was hilarious but not because of Booger, he's not funny at all. He's the guy people laugh at not with.

It's hilarious because of that statement being made after pretend games against backups, if that. What his agent should have done is notify the Joneses the price just went up mil a year, care to make anymore comments?

Even though the clown went on to try and explain what he meant by that, he failed because people only remember the first part. Especially people that are the subject matter.

The only thing this clown proves whenever he opens his mouth is that he has a second butthole, right under his nose.

Geez, really, CC?

IMO being a training camp no show with 2 years left on your contract is disrespectful.
The word respect has no place in any of this. Elliott made a business decision not to show up for what he was going to get paid.

If he had only one year left on that contract, is that more respectful?

This is all about money, this sport is all about money, that is the only thing that matters or any of them care about. They all respect money.

Kept his mouth shut? Not showing up to camp with 2 years left on his contract is about as disrespectful as it gets. Did he really need to say anything? He could have showed up to camp and had private talks with Jerry about contracts while he was preparing with his TEAM for the upcoming season. But no, he grabbed the headlines by pouting like the little big headed baby he is and not showing up for work.
Has he said anything negative or disrespectful about the team? It's a business. Players hold out for new contracts. Still no need for Jerry to make a remark clearly intended to insult him.

Not sure why an NFL Owner/GM is commenting publicly about the contract situation of his best player. Ill advised move to make derogatory comments regarding same player and his contract.

That's the risk he runs and he might not be willing to do this if he didn't think the QB can't do it without him.

I think Bell's holdout cost PIT the playoffs and they did find a good RB in Conner but he's no Bell. While Bell did not get the effect he was looking for, he did affect their season.

The tricky part of this is the new OC. No one knows enough to know how he's going to deal with this. What if Pollard doesn't have to be as good because the offense doesn't run through the RB? Elliott is a good RB but made better by their dependence on him.

True. This is all negotiation, not respect, no matter what the agent says. Zeke's leverage is at its high so he's striking while the iron's hot. It'll be even higher if Pollard gets Dak killed like he almost did on Saturday.

Any comment other than "we do on talk about player or coach contract negotiations publicly". "We hope to have Zeke Elliott on the field opening day" might even be too much.

The problem is that the media is used to getting fed by hand by this team.
