The agent is upset because things aren’t going as expected. I think Jerry saying that is a great thing at this point. Even if it was meant as a joke. Looks like zeke and his agent are both morons! I think they miscalculated this one..

Zeke not being with the team seems to warrant the quip now if Zeke was standing on the sidelines when Jerry said it....

I’m about to be all for sending Zeke to Buffalo for a 1st and a 2nd. Either get to camp or go somewhere else. This is getting ridiculous.

I just can't see any team giving up that sort of draft capital+money off the bat.

Besides, they seem to like Devin Singletary. He's not Zeke styled RB, but may be a good back.

Honest question....did you read the whole transcript of the interview? I ask because Jerry made it very clear that he was only having fun and that he saw Pollard as a compliment to Zeke not a replacement.
Nope I didn't read it. I watched it. It was a stupid thing to say and you can clearly see that he realized it once he said it.

Has he said anything negative or disrespectful about the team? It's a business. Players hold out for new contracts. Still no need for Jerry to make a remark clearly intended to insult him.
Ever hear the term “actions speak louder than words”? Me open hand slapping another man is more disrespectful than calling him a name. Me not acting appropriately at work while in public is more disrespectful to my employer than calling my boss a name in private or making a joke about him to other employees. Zeke has held this entire organization hostage and been nothing but a nuisance off the field. If he wants to be treated like an adult, and paid as the top RB in the league, than perhaps he should start acting like it on AND OFF the field. As you said, this is a business and he is being, and has been, more unprofessional than Jerry.

Does he not represent the team on and off the field? Whether or players like it or not, that’s the way it is. He’s pretty much disrespected the Cowboys since draft day with his ridiculous outfit then add in all of his other antics/incidents. He disrespected Jerry by not showing up with 2 years left on his contract after everything Jerry has done for him.

Most fans aren't emotionally equipped to handle media involved contract negotiations, they get mad at the player while the team is pulling strings.

1) Not good negotiating tactics when a team purposely turns a fanbase against a player (Dez, DLaw etc.). Here's a thought for Jerry n Stephen...find a better way to negotiate!!!

2) Most of the negative posters never liked Zeke to begin with, some are jealous/envious, and some have been swayed by media reports.

Stay tuned tho...y'all are seeing why this team doesn't win big, and every offseason their trying to copy the moves of SB participants instead of setting tends...sad ish.

That's the risk he runs and he might not be willing to do this if he didn't think the QB can't do it without him.

I think Bell's holdout cost PIT the playoffs and they did find a good RB in Conner but he's no Bell. While Bell did not get the effect he was looking for, he did affect their season.

The tricky part of this is the new OC. No one knows enough to know how he's going to deal with this. What if Pollard doesn't have to be as good because the offense doesn't run through the RB? Elliott is a good RB but made better by their dependence on him.
There are a lot of new variables, new OC, Witten and Fredrick back, Stronger Williams, Improved Gallup, Cobb, Kitna. I think Zeke eventually will be back this season but if the offense looks good without him he may end up coming back for less than he was hoping for.

Look, I'm a Elliott supporter and don't think we have another answer quite complete, but it was beyond obvious that he was joking.

Anyone that takes it to mean anything more need to give their balls a tug.

Jerry has always been reactionary, the kid did good in a preseason game against #2s, so of course Jones is gonna be giddy, until the regular season starts.....both sides just need to zip it, but Jerry loves the cameras.

yes it is because most every team in the league will negotiate during the FINAL year of a contract.
This is new ground being broken and there will be others building on it because of that option year for 1st round picks. Why does that even exist?

This is going to bring that up as a point of contention in the CBA because a team can use that and two tags on a player and if he gets a bad injury in any of those three years, he's vulnerable. He is only guaranteed for that season.

If you were a player, would you not consider the possibility of a career ending injury. Especially if you are in the business of making contact with larger men? And let's not forget, since 2014, a Cowboys RB has led the league in rushes four of the five seasons. Even the dumbest RB knows more carries = more possible injury.

Someone should tell Zeke to dig around in one of his purses and try to find his....if he has any.

No question about that, he thinks he's funny but this is a contentious situation and he's already intimated that Pollard could replace Elliott after that 1st pretend game.

And I took your suggestion and will be gone from the forum for a little while.

If one cannot be objective about this, then one can't see both sides of this. And let's be aware of the fact that they brought this new contract up, he didn't. They also let it be know that they've offered 10X what he will make in 2019 to the QB. You know, the one that isn't worth a damn without the RB. All of this isn't taking place in a vacuum.

I find it funny that you talk about being objective and then bring up what the QB makes as if that should have anything to do with it. One is a QB and one is a RB. Anyone looking at it objectively understands that. If I am a kicker who attempted the most field goals over the last 3 years should I look at the fact that they offered the QB 20 times more than I will make and hold out? I mean we all know that this team isn't worth a damn without a kicker given all the issues we have had in the red zone (thanks in part to that RB and QB).

Not a huge deal but Jerry knows better. You won’t see Stephen or any other NFL “GM” make that remark given the circumstances.

Some actually feel bad for Zeke? lol Now that's funny! Even funnier that he feels slighted by the remark. I'm not sure.. that either takes huge balls or none at all considering the circumstance.

So Jerry should do the same? The man is a billionaire business owner. There is no need to punch down at anyone. You feel Zeke has been unprofessional off the field and I agree with that, but he has never opened his mouth to the media and been disrespectful to Jerry or the organization in regards to his contract. However, he has also outperformed his contract while on it and he's holding out like many players do when they outperform their contracts. I don't even think Dallas should be the ones to pay him more than they've offered him. What I do think, is that regardless of what player this was about, Jerry would have been out of line in saying what he said.
