Several subtle shots at Zeke (and maybe Dak) at the Jaylon PC. He kept effusively praising Jaylon for looking out for the "team" with this contract.

Easily the GREATEST post this August!!

I think Jones are desperately trying to put Jaylon Smith in class of Dak, Zeke & Cooper and showing he took team friendly deal. There is only one problem, Jaylon only has 1 year of real significant production. I will even go as far and say the best LB on team didn't get a contract extension today.

I am actually thinking it wouldn't be sad. It could be a windfall. If Pollard continues to grow, grab another guy next draft, get some nice draft capital for Zeke. I am 100% OK with it. The guy is a dunce.

I think it would be the best move for the franchise no doubt. Wouldn't do anything for us THIS year. And it would all but certify that taking Zeke with the 4th pick was a mistake.

I love grocery shopping... I would never have someone else do it for me.

Edit... that's not Cabo!
I had to get it delivered when I was recovering from a hip replacement and decided I would crawl to the damned store rather than let some teenager pick out my goodies. My groceries are too dear to me, they are my precious.

Lol. There were plenty of people sticking up for Jerry. As I stated above, most fans are on the side of management when players want new deals. Lawrence had no knuckleheadry about him and even he was branded a bad guy as soon as he wanted a new deal.
Lawrence was in bad faith with the surgery - poor form.
The time for players to get their cut is at the NFLPA and the CBA. They are effectively thumbing their nose at the agreement when holding out of agreed upon deals. That is bad faith. If they don't like the deal, don't sign the CBA. Individual players either should enjoy the benefits of the union or opt out. If you are in the union, you stick to the agreed upon deals that were set in the CBA - like the 5th year option for rookies!

this was a home run. There is no doubt about it. In a year and another pro bowl, Jaylon could get in the 17 million dollar range.

Jerry can do whatever he wants because it's his team, plus because he knows an overwhelming majority of fans want to know what's going on and what he is doing. Sorry that you are in the minority, but this is a ratings and marketing business. That is what makes him money. He's giving to the fans what the majority of fans want. It's why his franchise has become the richest franchise in the world! Think about that for a minute. Why would or should Jerry change?
Of course he is and you're all eating it up. I know exactly what he's doing and why he's doing it. He's created the riches franchise and he's done it while his football team has won only 3 playoff games this century . The guy is a business genius. And of course the fans are going to be on his side. He represents the team. It doesn't matter that I'm in the minority. I'm use to it. And the next time the team disappoints I won't be as hurt because I don't expect much.

And then we will rebuild again and when it's time to pay the new players the same thing will happen again. It will be a never ending cycle. Nobody who is a top notch player is going to take a discount unless there are other factors like Jaylon or who has a wife like Brady.
I don’t get what Brady’s wife has to do with anything? So what, she makes more money then every other NFL wife. Is 60 million or 90 million or 30 million not enough for these prima donnas to live off?

His talent wasn't a mistake, betting on the person he is was a mistake.... Drunk, partying, nincompoop with great football skills...but yeah overall at #4...if it happens, definitely a mistake. Still could make lemonade from it if they do it right. I doubt they will. Zeke will sign soon. If Pollard looks good in the next pre-season game, it's over...

And it is never the correct or the right thing to use the media to try and deliver messages to the players or put them in the greed corner. What a laugh, the greediest owner in the league trying to play the greed card against his players and some just follow along without really examining the fallout from that.

There are quite a few players up next season that he just slammed for not helping him build the team. Every player on that team understands what Jaylon did and why he did it but I don't think any of them like seeing that used against other players.

Why should any player give Booger a hometown team friendly deal? He's got the most profitable team in the league, manage his resources better, do his job better. Don't go giving the DE 21M a year and think there's not going to be fallout. Don't be a showoff with a boat and expect team friendly deals.

That $21 million is market price for a DE with Dlaw's stats...………...so why is paying market value creating fall out?

You cant have it both ways bro, you cant crucify Jerry for wanting players to take below market and then turn around and crucify Jerry for actually paying Market. Me thinks you just want to crucify Jerry regardless of what he does.

It seems rushed just to reward his story because based strictly on his play on the field he does not deserve that contract right now.

All of these players were offered top 5 money at their position...……….Zeke, Dak, Coop, and Jaylon

Three said no, only one said yes..…..I hardly call that low balling..…...Jerry is right, players demanding to be the highest paid can suck it.
Yep, top dollar deals are for stinky teams who have no stars and just want to sell tickets - not for winning teams who want to stay that way. If you want top dollar - go to one of those teams and spend your career in the cellar!

So let me get this straight. Every team has different needs and therefore pay certain positions more money than others. Some teams have more players they have to sign and some teams have different salary cap situations but because one team like the Rams make a dumb mistake and pay Gurley as much as they did then that automatically means we are obligated to pay Zeke even more?

Sorry, that’s not how it works, or that’s not how it should work. Sorry the Rams were as dumb as you are Zeke but that doesn’t mean the Cowboys are.

Never said his talent was a mistake. For me it was just the RB position that high that was a mistake. Didn't even know about the mental side. definitely never would have drafted the kid if I knew any of that as well.

I think Zeke misses a couple of games.

I do not expect them to be, the situation with Jaylon is unique.

It's a business to all of the players but every now and then some personal feelings get in the mix like Jaylon. I also don't think it's fair to those players to compare the situations. Jaylon also drew down a decent salary and didn't play a lick his rookie season and I am sure that plays into this from his side too.

If I am Jaylon, I am reaching out to the triplets to let them know my reasons for doing what I did and am not happy with this being used against them. It really looks like a set up from the Joneses to use this against the players that are going to pull 2 to 4 times what Jaylon will get, no other players should have been mentioned at the pc, that's bush league. To even insinuate that players have to go along with those two to help build the team is an insult. In the words of Belichick to both the Joneses "just do your job". The players are not responsible for building the team.
Of the three remaining players, Elliott certainly owes Jones a reasonable negotiation. JJ has gone to the mat for this guy multiple times. Certainly that's worth something, right?

I mean seriously, Zeke may be holding out for an extra 8 million dollars on a 60 million guaranteed contract for all we know (on top of the 25 mil he already has). 8 mil is a lot of money but is 80-100 not enough in the grand scheme of things?

This is 100% ego driven, he wants to be paid as if he’s the best and refuses to settle for slightly less even though he’s sitting out with 2 years left on his contract. A lot of teams wouldn’t even do that I bet. Send him to AZ and let us see how good you really are Ewok. His contract demands would have to go down weekly based on his performance.
