How many would take a pay cut?

And when other posters realize that either amount makes you rich beyond rich, maybe they wouldn't be so insistent that a player should hold a team hostage and squeeze out every little penny.
Can’t ever have too much. Always want more. At least most do. I think our Capitalist society is a great example. Not sure why we think Athletes should be different?

Right

Why would anyone be willing to take less for an organization which isn’t doing everything within its power to win.

I have to agree w/ your last question. If I'm Dak, I work on a shorter term deal w more guaranteed, say 4-5 yrs/100 mil guaranteed, and see what the team does in that time.

The team wants to extend him.

The problem is they are basically trying to low ball him

They are not lowballing him. He has 2 cheap years left on his current contract and those years are averaged into the deal. Zeke, apparently, wants Dallas to tear up his current contract and negotiate with him like he's an UFA. In any case, his best bet to get a new deal was to be at camp working, not pissing off management in Cabo.

If I wanted to make $33M a year and was asked to take $31M a year for the sake of my teammates, would I do it? Yes I would because at the end of the day, there isn't much difference between the 2 numbers.

And besides, that's not a pay cut. Dak is making $2M this year, which would INCREASE to $31M

Whether it's $33M a year or $31M a year, I still a very, very wealthy young man. I'm also making $10M+ in endorsements.
In what world do you live in that $31m and $33m isnt a big difference???

Yall forget that these players have families to feed and these contracts arent fully guaranteed...

Disagree. The problem is that Zeke and his agent are trying to highball the team.
Dude once Zeke shows any signs of regression in the next three years of this new contract, do you really think the FO is going to be as loyal to him as you think he should be to the team with a team friendly contract. This is business. I see it from both sides.

Oh, I don't know, Greg. Since you're going to be very very rich either way, why not take a bit less and try to win a super bowl?

They had no intention of giving him a new contract this year.

Once again your anger clearly is directed towards him not being at camp. That is a completely different topic.

Ah yes.

The old "I can't feed my family on $31M a year" argument.

That's always been one of my favorites.

This is to all the posters who want players to take a pay cut.

If your boss came up to you and said would you take a $4 an hour pay cut so he can hire a couple extra employees so that more work could get done more efficiently. But if you don't take a pay cut they will have to lay off a few employees. So who's taking that pay cut?

I understand some make less then others but I know some here make good money. So who's taking the pay cut?

This is for all the posters who want players to take a pay cuts for the greater good of the team, the same team that will eventually cut you to save money.

this is not a fair analogy....if you are talking about people making 20 an hour vs 15 mil a year, its a vast vast difference....literally no comparision at all

That's just the thing. If they are offering around 15-16 mil/season, that's not a team friendly deal, that's a deal that's fair to both sides.

And players have this very strange idea that if they're not making more than the last guy, that they're not "getting paid". Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. If you're truly seeing it from both sides, then you should easily be able to see that a contract around the amount I mentioned is not team friendly and is not lowballed, it's simply a fair wage.

I hear ya but you’re assuming they’d rather increase their opportunity to win than optimize their earnings.

There’s no guarantee they can win a SB by taking less. It’s not really their place to manage the Cap.

Extremely stupid, too. There's simply nothing you can do w/ 33 mil that you can't do w/ 31.

.......which is related to his contract demands. If SJ says they made him an offer that pays him top 5 money with 2 years left on his rookie deal and he's still not in camp..........how do you side with the player?.

C'mon, Greg, everyone knows there's no guarantee. That's too obvious to even say.

It's not the players' jobs to manage the cap unless they're asking for so much money that it hurts the team, then it becomes their job.

Again, it’s up to mgmt to manage it not the players.
