I will under value RB’s, tell me me the last time the leagues leading rusher or highest paid RB won a Super Bowl? No, what people whined about with Jerry's contracts were that they were spent on the wrong guys. No one whined about martin's contract and Zeke is tops at his position as well. Pittsburgh could absorb the Bell loss because their offense is pass first and it didn't become that way once Bell left. It's been that way for them since 2014. LA has a great defense anchored by the best in the game so they didn't need to be an offensive juggernaut without Gurley but surely could have used him in the Super Bowl though. 3-3 in the 4th and he would have been the best offensive player on the field. Could have easily made a big difference. But yes, undervalue running backs why don't you. Romo knows the power of a good running back first hand and it's why we drafted Zeke at number 4 in the first place. But he's not going to be used up like a sucker and sent packing so he's striking while the iron is hot. I said it, then Emmitt Smith said it. All of it is chance and the team hasn't even suffered yet, but man are posters' emotions getting jabbed over this. It ain't just the salary cap either bud. Like I said, go look at any other sport without a salary cap when a player gets paid and see the reaction. What's the problem then?
Striking while the iron is hot? Lol, the iron is about as cold as it gets. 2 teams with two of the best RB’s in the league showed how easy it was to replace them, we have a rookie that has looked good so far and we hae a top O line which will be a huge asset for a lesser RB. The league has also become much more pass happy, he would be better off he were a receiver.
I don’t care about any other sport or what their players make, if we didn’t have a salary cap I wouldn’t care about Zeke asking for more, well I would a little because he still has two years left on his contract. Regardless, the money needs to be spent appropriately and tying a good portion of that up with a RB is a waste IMO. I’d rather spend that money on putting together an elite D and picking up a RB in the next draft which would be much easier than most other positions.
