Is Zeke worth more than Jaylon?

Jaylon is worth more. Higher character, better leader, and just as talented.

The Cowboys have won their last 4 games without Zeke.
Against 4 lousy teams. They failed to score 10 points in the first three games without Zeke against legit teams.

I'd say they are pretty close in value, and they'll be paid pretty close. Gun to my head I'm taking Jaylon, because Mikes who can both hammer downhill and cover the deep middle are tough to find.

No. Coverage linebackers are becoming increasingly valuable assets with the move towards quick passing attacks. RBs are going in the opposite direction (not that they’ve been all that valuable to begin with).

Then give him the contract he wants and cut him before it ends. Problem solved.

Since when is just giving the player what they want a good business decision? Jerry has an entire team to think about and one way he's hung himself in the past is by marrying himself to the wrong players. Personally, I don't trust Zeke. It's not about his production on the field, it's about his inability to stay out of trouble off of it. It's only a matter of time before he gets hit with another suspension. You want to give that guy #1 runnningback money? Not without a boatload of caveats.

If someone is willing to pay him more he is. And, he does have more history of success to date.

This is probably short sighted granted the "new NFL" is geared toward offense. I really think Zeke is worth about the same except for his weak mindedness which reflect on the business negatively.

to me....no.
Jaylon Smith is everything you'd want a Dallas Cowboy to be.
helluva player.
helluva LB.
helluva person.
helluva man.

Jaylon is the new leader of the defense though. Zeke gets the ball and puts points on the board but the defense keeps points OFF the board and Jaylon is a big part of that. He has taken Sean Lee's Mantle.

Yep, and it was only 2 short seasons ago( before Jaylon and LVE)that we saw the impact Lee's absence had on the defense.

But even with that being said, I still know I need Zeke for this offense to come anywhere close to functional. So I gotta go with Zeke.

Guess I'll see once the real bullets starts to fly as they say.

Zeke has produced more than Jaylon, but a good contract should be about what you expect to get during it rather than a reward for prior performance.

Bottom line is RBs are viewed as more easily replaced than other positions in today's NFL.
