And 4-3 L7 without Zeke. Sounds good until you provide context.

28-13 with him in the lineup since his rookie year.

Tell me which winning % is better?

Agree.

Too many spoiled fans on this board.

Hell yes!

Zeke has a greater probability of scoring TDS and creating 1st downs. Points win game. I know you all love your defense, but Dak and Zeke are putting points on the board.
but as they say, defense wins championships....Patriots did it last year...scoring 13 points...just sayin

Since when is just giving the player what they want a good business decision? Jerry has an entire team to think about and one way he's hung himself in the past is by marrying himself to the wrong players. Personally, I don't trust Zeke. It's not about his production on the field, it's about his inability to stay out of trouble off of it. It's only a matter of time before he gets hit with another suspension. You want to give that guy #1 runnningback money? Not without a boatload of caveats.

Well part of that was tongue in cheek. But if anyone is worth what he wants it's him. But the way the rules are most NFL contracts are pretty worthless after the first year or two no matter what $$ it says on the paper.

The Option Bonus is cool, can prorate that.

Cap hit for 2020 = 7.7mill, 2021 = 9.8mill. Nice.

Its a good deal for Jerry.

The odds of JSmith playing out the last 4 years of the deal are slim.

They can cut him after 2021 and walk.

Apples and oranges.
Yeah it's too hard to compare them. Defense wins championships. Do you lock up a stud linebacker for 6 years or lock up a RB for 6 years and hope the RB doesn't run out of gas. If you put a gun to my head and said that we could only sign one of the two, I would've picked Jaylon. For me Jaylon is the safer bet off the field and on the field he's the defensive signal caller and leader. Zeke is a liability off the field and on the field he's explosive and can blow a game open. But RB is easier to replace than lber and we have a great o-line that helps the RB. If you think about it we have had the leading rusher for the league in 2014, 2016, 2017 and different RB's. When Murray went to the Eagles and titans he was average, when he was with us he lead the league in the only year he wasn't injured. So we can take a top ten RB and make him look elite, that's why I would pick Jaylon if you put a gun to my head. Please don't put a gun to my head BTW.

Nope. He’s a better player at his position though. But it isn’t as important a position.

zeke is under contract for the next 2 years when his worth is highest
if jones wanted to turn the thumbscrews, they could simply wait zeke out until game 11 if he is not broke before that.
jaylon's value is rising, is under contract this year, and would be rfa next year.
finally if dak signs a long term contract before next season, they could simply franchise zeke as long as he is worth the tag.

like many said here, it is a business.

I think the odds of him playing out the entire contract are pretty good. He'll just have turned 27 going into the 2022 season. The last year of his contract he'll be 30.

The only thing that I could see preventing it are injury, i'm not really worried about him keeping in shape after what he's done. Barring injury, I'd say he sees every year of that deal.
