Some people are like hey.... Let's replace a guy who might not step onto the field with a guy who might not step on the field, case we need a guy to step onto the field, if Dak goes down.

Really? That's a lot of unknowns.
Stick to the devil you know. JMO.

Thats because some people have seen this picture show before. Some people realize that we have the talent to compete for a championship this year but one of the few real weakness' on this team are at QB.

You wanna pay Dak like a top QB but he's an unknown at this point but plenty of folks are willing to support that idea. Here's something that is not an unknown. We have nothing at all behind Dak. That is a know, for sure. Maybe we should just let Dak play on his 2 mil and go out and take the money we would have paid Dak and go get a competent backup?

You can't use Romo's past to predict Dak's future.

Why not, you tried to do it by Bringing up Romo's contract and then trying to justify the number to Dak by saying that Romo wasn't even as good. I mean, lets keep it real here.
Wrong poster. I've never done anything like that.

Opinions and beliefs vary and I'm always open to hearing other people's thoughts. So this was a discussion not an argument, to me.

I might crack jokes that get taken the wrong way but I don't call names or attack people's post.

I don't know what we'd have to give for him, I just know neither of our backup QBs are worthy. Gilbert was leading the AAF in passer rating when it became defunct. He was signed by the Browns, as continues to show up. In his second preseason game, against the Colts, Garrett had a 107 rating. I know it was against 2nd teamers, but so was the play of White & Rush, and they both bombed. The Browns won't put him on waivers because someone will scoop him up, so how much would you give for him?

Not sure about Gilbert, but I agree we need better back-up QBs. We might have the worst back-up QB situation in the NFL.

Very well, if you are not the poster who introduced that idea, so be it, you have my apologies. However, the fact remains, using the wait and see approach was tried and it failed miserably. As I said earlier, we went from 12-4 to 4-12 in a matter of a season because we had no viable backup option. That can not be argued.

Absolutely nothing, and I highly doubt anyone would claim him off of waivers, because that means putting him on their active roster.

The guy is 28 years old not some undiscovered young guy.
His latest game, he had a 127 rating with two TDs & no picks. A hell of a lot
better than either of our backups. We need a veteran QB to backup Dak, & he's better than either guy on our roster.

Wasn't this a guy who transferred to a small college because he wasn't good enough to start for a major college program?
Some players develop slower. He had the best rating in the AAF, & he's been improving for the Browns, which his 127 rating on Saturday shows. Better than what we have now.

"Trade"???

They like their guy Cooper Rush.

Rather get a young guy to place on PS and develop under Kitna.
Yeah, he's really setting the world on fire. He has never had the 127 rating Gilbert posted Sat. Plus, Gilbert is 6-4, 230 with a rocket arm.

There's a long list of QBs that got cut that had huge games in the preseason.
It's not incredibly uncommon.

But even though we probably have one of the more sturdy starting QBs--and one of the least likely to get injured--our backup situation has to be in the bottom 2-3 in the league

Preseason stats mean nothing. There is absolutely nothing to say he's better than Cooper Rush.

Would love it as a Cowboy fan and homer, but are the Colts in win now mode now? They have finally built a solid roster but now their franchise QB is gone for good. They will not win very many games with Brissett as their QB1.

This seems like the perfect Teddy Bridgewater-in-Minnesota, 2016 style cataclysmic event that would force such a desperate trade like the Bradford trade to the Eagles in 2016.

This could be the Cowboys' shot to secure not one but two premium 1st round picks in 2020, and land a perennial top-5 quarterback of the future and more.

Big opportunity for Dallas here. Same with the Zeke trade to Houston or a similar team desperate for a RB1.

This team is primed to win now, they aren’t going to give away Dak and kick the can down the road three years. Won’t happen.

Do yourself, and everyone else here, a favor. Just go put on your Desean Jackson jersey, yell "Fly Eagles Fly", and stop crapping on this board with nonsense.
