Who really thinks not signing Elliott enhances our chances of contending for a championship this year?

We must set aside our personal preferences and root for what provides the Cowboys the best opportunity to win.

I’d offer Elliott a big 2 year deal to finish out his Rookie contract.

We are not winning the SB with Coach Clappy...………regardless of if Zeke is here or not.

Time for you to accept that fact, your boy Garrett couldn't coach up a litter of kittens to find a bowl of milk, he dam sure aint winning us a ring.

Jason Garrett has made the playoffs TWICE in 9 years .

No other coach in history (with the same experience) has done so poorly , NO ONE, EVER . It's an NFL record .

Let’s assume Garrett suks. Now what should we surround him with. Maybe an Elite QB or defense?

Assume Garrett sucks?

Where you been the last decade bro?

Garrett sucks is pretty much written in stone at this point, aint no assuming needed.

I said it back in April , zeke is bad news , get rid of him...

... and regarding Dak , he does not deserve top 5 money .
If Dak had any respect for the fans , the team or Jerry and Stephen who drafted him when no one knew him , then he would sign a team freindly deal and show leadership ... but I fear greed has crept up on him as well ..

Garrett has made the playoffs three times in the last 5 years. Putting your statement in big letters doesn't make it valid. He's also won 2 playoff games in that time.

As for your alleged "NFL record", Marvin Lewis just finished 16 seasons as coach of the Bengals. He went 0-7 in the playoffs.

JG is JG, but let's stick to facts instead of just making stuff up.

I guess if we have no shot with Garrett then none of this is relevant.

Yep

Garrett obviously has his coaching flaws on Game Day but his greatest asset has been influencing Jerry and Stephen into building one of the better talented teams this era while creating a culture which can overcome the distractions our ownerships mgmt ways often delivers.

It’s why I’ve called him our greatest Puppet. Jason is a product of our dysfunctional organization. And I think he’s made the most of a bad situation where much greater coaches have had less success.

So, we should get rid of Dak and Zeke? Then what?
Does that make us a better team?

Actually, if I recall, Duane Thomas held out in like his second season in the league, with the Cowboys. Now in those days, teams didn't play. Tex traded him to the Pats or some such, and they were horrible terrible in those days.

If I remember right, I believe that trade to the Pats fell through and Thomas had to come back. Tense situation. I suspect Thomas may have been bipolar and they just didn't know it.

Correct.

As I stated earlier in thread. Duane then help lead us to our 1st SB championship before being traded to Chargers following season.

Zeke, if signed will very likely get half the money Dak will eventually get. As you have stated, Zeke is the best (hard to argue against top 3 at the least) in the league at his position. Dak has very good odds to have 2 long term contracts. Zeke will very likely only get 1. If Dak gets hurt and is lost for the year.... His long term prospects are far less grim then an RB going down with a season ending injury. RBs have no choice but to put their bodies through a ton of punishment where with a QB, the objective is to protect him at all costs... yes professional athletes get paid a boat ton. But in respect to context of his peers and other pro players that play the games.... Running backs really get the short end of the stick. A top tier lineman, which is one of 5 positions has greater longevity resulting in greater earning potential compared to an RB in today's NFL.

All true, very sad, perhaps not fair - but that's the market.

The Cowboys traded Thomas to the Patriots for RB Carl Garrett and a draft pick. Garrett had been a former AFL Rookie of the Year. When Thomas got to New England, he was asked to lineup in a three point stance in the backfield. Thomas said no, that in Dallas, he was able to line up with his hands on his knees, and it allowed him to see the defense better before the snap. The coach, John Mazur, didn't take well to being questioned, and told the Patriot front office that he couldn't work with him, and the trade ultimately was voided.

Even more interesting was what Garrett said after leaving New England. Garrett was ecstatic after the trade, and was quoted as saying that he couldn't wait to run behind a real offensive line. Think his return to the Patriots was a little awkward after this?

Interesting. Wonder if we would have won the SB with Carl Garrett running for us. I'd bet we would have. That was a great team.

That's true, but the point I was trying to make is that Zeke is not the only WR who has held out early in his career. I mean, he is unique in that he is holding out under the new structure in place but he is certainly not unique.

I see what you did there. Calling Zeke a WR to justify a $17M/yr contract. Brilliant! ;)
