How so? Those owners are constrained by a salary cap. You know, the same salary cap that got put in effect in 1994 in order to handicap Jerry Jones from being able to pay for the best players and team in the league? You do realize by those owners enforcing a salary cap, it destroyed our Cowboys chances of reaching or winning Super Bowls since then? The same salary cap that is legislated and agreed upon every 10 years by the owners and players (through their union), so how can anyone say these owners have too much power?

This Zeke is so bad off the field narrative is ridiculous. He lifted a woman's shirt at a parade. Not the smartest thing but meh. A security officer fell over a rack that made a lot of noise. Every team operates under the same salary cap. Hasn't hurt Belicheck. So you mean the only way this team can win championships is to hire mercenary all-stars and not actually have coaching talent to rangle what we got into winners? Maybe you need to be looking at ownership for why we haven't had a championship team in a while.

Isn't that what was done with Wentz? His extension is big but he is still playing under his normal salary this year, right? Remember, the 5th year is a team option. Zeke is not signed right now to a concrete 5 year contract. It's 4. If we signed him to a 5 year extension, he'd play this year most likely under his current salary. And starting next season, the new salary kicks in. And he'd be under control for 5 more years.

Sure, 5 year deal $80million.

Signing bonus prorated over next 5years, guaranteed is out 2 years into his contract, can be cut with 3 years left at higher salaries, and minimal dead cap because even 2 years in, there will only be like 2 or even 1 year of signing bonus left.
