Lol no crap

It's a tough sport played by tough guys, warriors. You either got the guts, the heart, the will, the fight or you don't. Excluding head injuries you would have to drag most if not all off the field. Let's not ignore the fact that Luck lost his will to fight. He quit and unless he comes back he will be known for that.

This has nothing to do with heart/guts

What he will be known for is that he was smart to step away before these injuries became too severe to recover from

We are no longer in the days where we simply treat men like disposable garbage and laugh while they are in pain.

What you’re explaining and why he quit is not the reason he did.

Andrew Luck is soft IMO. I'd make him pay back the 15 Million in bonus money. If it was a concussion issue I'd understand but based on the ankle injury he's a quitter in my eyes. He gave up, he quit, he wanted to enjoy his life and all the money he has made, I get it. Not saying it's right or wrong based on how smart the guy is and have no doubt he will be successful in something else but he quit football.

In the end he has a right to make his own decisions and everyone has a right to their own opinion. #USA

He's soft?

LOL.

Let's see. He played with busted ribs. He came back from what was said to be a horribly damaged shoulder. He came back from a torn stomach muscle. He came back from a concussion. He came back from a lacerated kidney (which could kill you, by the way). He had shoulder injuries prior to surgery and rushed through rehab to get back. Then he tried to play through a torn labrum (that eventually required the surgery) in his shoulder.

But he's soft.

The stupidity that gets uttered on this board at times is arguably what makes it such an entertaining read.

Owners aren't going to look out for a players long term health interests. Players have to do it for themselves. And owners legit cut guys in the middle of the season. It doesn't matter why. Anyone can come up with justification, the fact is they do it.

More players should be stepping away before they're long term health is tremendously impacted. I have no issues at all with why, how or when Luck made his decision.

Right. I’m saying Luck is right in his decision, but it is very different from when teams do it. They can’t be compared in that way.

You can call it smart, you can call it "step away", call it what you want. I see Andrew Luck "The quitter".

Oh stop it. What happened to Texas tough? He could have been rehabbed in 6 more weeks and never had another injury for 7-8 years. He came to the crossroads and he gave up, he quit.

Peyton Manning = Warrior
Andrew Luck = Softy

And the name I want to call you would get me banned on here

The reason you explained for him quitting and what you claim he lacks is simply false. You’re just wrong and you know it.

Stop with some weird boomer toughness, which is always a facade anyways. We are more educated on injuries these days, players get paid more and aren’t as desperate for a paycheck.

Luck quit because he accumulated too many injuries for the position he plays, which relies on him being a leader - his arm is drained, who knows how many concussion went undiagnosed, and now has an injury they can’t even diagnose in his leg which means more rehab and more pain.

Trying to degrade a man over his is pathetic. You have to know you don’t look good here.

I really don't care. He gave up, he quit. Not saying it was right or wrong based on his situation but he did quit
I don’t know why people are so sensitive to exactly what you are saying. Might be the right call for Luck, but that doesn’t mean it’s not something that is rarely seen and really negatively affects the fans & the team. Gottlieb was really just making a throw away joke and I’m sure he’d say Luck has to ultimately do what’s right for him & his family. But is that little tweet really worth Troy & others losing their #%*! over? I just don’t see it warranting the hurt feelings and “you never played so you can’t possibly know” that it’s bringing.

Gottlieb essentially called Luck soft.

That's an idiotic claim. It deserves the scorn it received.

Peyton Manning a warrior? Manning came back from a successful surgery, if it went poorly, would he have been a quitter? How about Drew Brees and his injury? You know, the miracle surgery he had when he was bracing for retirement himself?

Luck showed last year due to his injury, the strength in his throwing arm decreased a lot. Once this happened to Manning, he quit. Add in the pain Luck is going through and it makes sense why he retired.

Texas tough?

LOL. Again the guy has spent the last 4 years rehabbing and coming back from three SERIOUS injuries (including one that could have been life threatening) as well as a concussion. And he's now having leg issues that hasn't improved with rehab and rest.

But he's not Texas Tough.

Holy **** people.

This is really dumb. You’d be in bed for weeks, crying like a baby with some of the injuries Luck has gone through.

Of course, that’s my opinion #USA

I didn't say he made the right or wrong decision, what I said was he lost his will to fight, he quit. He's a quitter

I don’t know man. It’s a tweet and a jokey one at that. Nobody died and Gottlieb didn’t make light of something of that ilk. I guess I’m just surprised it draws such outrage from people. Maybe at 35 the world has already passed me by. I’ll leave this thread to those that see this as much more serious than I do.

I would not question his toughness but I would question his love for the game. That's ok if he does not love it that much.

The quitter term only gets talk because of the timing of the announcement, which was poor.

They could have had Josh Rosen for a 2nd - They may have liked him, who knows.

Just go with “I was trolling” to try and get out of your stupid posts. Because I know “I was wrong” would be too tough for you to admit - ironically for the forum “tough” guys.

Oh Matthew you're so easy to trigger. You lost your mojo, it's cute though
