Ive said this since before his draft. He is a strong side 4-3 end or a 3-4 DT. He is not a quick end.

are we seeing an example of what can happen when Taco is determined to play up to his game ....when motivated.
and there are/have been players like that in the NFL. we've recently had it with David Irving.

They play only in according to how motivated they feel. that's a measurement of heart and mentality issue.
Do they have that alpha dog in themselves to drive and push like this all the time on the field as well as preparing themselves in the offseason to be the very best they can be ?
or do they feel entitled and put themselves in a pace and cruise control they see fit ?

I know it may be backup OTs he's been going against, but you'd still want to see Taco making his presence felt and getting a glimpse/flashes of what his potential it could have been.

Now becomes the question- is Taco playing all out to increase his stock elsewhere in a trade with another team ?
- if we cut him,
1) we will take a good cap hit
2) and that's less of a quality reserve help in the DL,
3) and we get nothing back as compensation

Imo, if we trade or cut Taco, that would mean that the two parties between Taco and the Cowboy behind the scenes may have came to some kind of agreement that if
he can impress enough to raise his stock, they will try to trade him ( preferably to a team of his choice ?) and they can receive some kind of compensation back.

He will. Now he may get taken off practice squad but this is the thing about these guys.......nobody thought much of him to even draft him before the 7th round. Nobody thinks enough of him to trade for him. I think you guys put too much stock into poaching of practice squad guys. Every team has a Jelks on it. All of these teams are trying to stash guys on practice squad.

Every team does not have a Jelks on it.

Pass rushers are not a dime a dozen position and if a guy even shows a pulse as a guy that can get to the QB or stop the guy getting to the QB then then they will be on a 53 man roster.

And she's getting fed bad info.

She needs to get a little bit of credibility back because her last 2 big reports have been sooo wrong.

Not wrong. Unverified. It's not her job to prove what people say that are directly involved in the negotiation. How can she possibly do that?

I believe they were worse in yards and completion %

Which is more important to you? Giving up yards or giving up touchdowns?

For me, its all about the scoring. Going from 26th to 8th is an enormous change. And the fact that virtually the entire secondary is markedly better is even more reason for praise.

It doesn't. If a team an offense averages 2 less drives per game against your defense due to ball control offense. Even if they had good drives during the game it would even out to less yards. Like I said total yards is a lazy stat and doesn't tell you anything about how good or bad a defense is.

Points per game.
I don't like the bend but don't break attitude Marinelli has. Give up yards between the 20's but keep them to a FG. Doesn't work as they still give up points. All for Garrett to play for a FG. LOL.
Anyway, can't stop TD's from happening with that philosophy IMO.

But PPG is a better indicator, with or without turnovers and pressures. They are important, but no scoring is the goal.

Well......I'm for it. The only downfall of that is that we must've sucked this year for it to happen and that will be disappointing.

Yes it would. But on the bright side, it might have that silver lining.

Win-win.

Either we win during this season or we win in the offseason with a new head coach.

I wouldn't trade Taco. 1st round pick that we won't get back, Gregory and Quinn still suspended. You can never have too many pass rushers.

Agreed but all of that ties into points per drive. and with less drives less chance to score. This defense if they can improve in pass rush, turnovers, and be able to get off the field on 3rd downs will be an elite defense. They are an above average defense as it stands now. Personally I think scheme is to blame more so than anything else.

Fish said on the fan this morning the coaches aren't as impressed as the fans.
which may very well be true. I will note however that our coaches seem to have a bad habit of forming an opinion & sticking to it regardless of any additional evidence presented later.

Not defending Taco or any past actions, just balancing the scales.

Jelks just stands out as a talent as a pure pass rusher.

If they cut him he'll never see our practice squad.

I fear that about a number of our players. Going to be very tricky to navigate the cut downs.

Taco is not a dog. Watch his body language. Like I said in another thread, I have a feeling Jelks (who is a dog) will have a better career than Taco. Best to trade Taco now after that great preseason game.
