Already sick of the media trying to protect this maggot. The guy quit on his team...because...rehab is too hard.

Memo to Luck. Try getting a 9-5 job and working for the next 40 years.....Bet he can't do that either.

The idea that he retires, his contract expires in 2021, and he decides he wants to come back isn't crazy. Maybe he likes the way the Colts treated him and he decides to go back there (which then he wouldn't have to wait til 2021 he could come back in a year or two if he wanted to) or maybe he decides it's time to try something different and go to another team when he's no longer under contract. Isn't that what Carson Palmer did? And yes I get that the situation was very different, bc Palmer retired bc he didn't want to play for that team and Luck retired bc of his health. But the idea of him coming back and playing for another team in a few years isn't that farfetched imo.

Don't see why not.

I think the team still holds a player's rights if a player retires early but I am not an expert and am willing to be corrected. I was curious so I looked it up and that is what happened with Marshawn Lynch. He signed a two year extension with the Hawks in 15, played one year, retired for a full year, then the Raiders traded for for him and re-did his deal. So It seems even after a full year of retirement, Seattle still had his rights.

Over what we have in a heartbeat, but the Colts would never let him go nor should they.

If they suck horrendously, draft Tua, and Luck comes back in 2 years when the bulk of Dak’s monstrous guarantees have left the cap...

Indianapolis 100% would be looking to move him to the NFC.

His contract freezes when he retires. Which means no matter when he comes back, the colts have him for 3 years after that.

Luck grew up as a Cowboys fan. If he comes back, what are the odds it is as a Cowboy? And would you want him? And would we have to give up something to Indianapolis to sign him?
You've two hopes of Luck being a Cowboy, Bob and none!

Oh well I was wondering about that so how did Carson Palmer get away with it?

He forced them to trade him, like Trent Williams is trying to do. Basically said, “I’ll play as long as it’s not Cincy. Otherwise I’m retired.”

Oakland gave up a TON for him, he was not free.

I would assume if Luck came back next year or 4 years from now the Colts would still own his rights.

I understand where you're coming from. I've read into the Luck situation a bit beyond what the media had put out there.

The kid never healed completely from his injuries. He gave up half A BILLION dollars because of it. Why play in constant pain when you're unable to give your team 110%?! Injuries ended up playing a major role in cutting his career short. Health & family (not money) are number one in life. Luck has proven so.

Ps- I'll sign that memo from you to Luck.

I'm guessing he'll come back after about 2 years off and when he fully recovers for a time. It all depends on how much he likes the game. I figure he'll get bored after a few years and come back while he still can.

* I think it'd be kinda' cool if you'd post up some timely scenes from that Vince Vaughn "dodge ball" flick,,,er,,,like a big chrome plated 7/8ths inch open/box end wrench bouncing off of a dudes forehead,,,in fact? That would be downright awesome.
