Depends what Dak does this year i suppose..but i hear you. Not worth $30 million a year at this point.

Wentz got $32 and has accomplished even less than Dak...……...so whats your argument to his agent on why he should take less?

And keep in mind the franchise tag for QBs is going to be around $30 mill next year anyways, so if you dont want to pay Dak that much then are you suggesting we let him become an unrestricted free agent? And if he leaves, who is our QB, Cooper Rush?

LOL...……..no bro, it aint going down like that...………….Zeke, Dak, and Cooper are all getting paid.

I would pay Zeke but not Prescott. How many great players could we get with that gargantuan amount of money we'd save by not paying Prescott? A ton.

Better run for cover. I have a feeling this thread is about to take a nasty turn.

I can easily see Zeke getting paid and dropping off next year. If he acts like he has during being investigated for DV (innocent or not) and after being suspended, how will he act after he gets several million guaranteed?

I won’t be the slightest bit surprised if the deal does get done just like I won’t be the slightest bit surprised if Zeke gets injured, suspended or regresses a lot in the next 2-3 years. Jerry will regret it.

Look on the bright side, if the deal is basically a carbon copy of Gurley's, almost all the guaranteed money is paid in the first three seasons. So if Zeke does regress, we can get out of the deal in three seasons with almost no dead money on the cap.

And honestly, if we plan on him carrying the rock 30+ times a game, he will be used up in three years anyways. Both Zeke and the Cowboys probably know this, that is why the holdout and new contract right now.

Stop comparing yourself to a pro athlete, you're not special and are easily replaceable. You have no leverage.
bingo. Im a teacher.... pretty damn good actually. But if I died tomorrow, thyed replace me with a long term sub, and eventually a regular teacher. They might not be nearly as good as me, but nobody would ever know.
Us avg joes..... we dont matter, but to the 40 or so people we impact. Zeke,.......... who can replace him? Nobody

14 years. 12 in regular school teaching 4-8 grades. Last 2 in alternative education with kids that have some seriously messed up lives. I love it, and im good..... but I know I am easily replaced. Zeke....... not easily replaced. Thats why comparing normal joes to his situation is laughable.

Yup, they should all hold out. Hopefully Dak holds out, Cooper holds out, Jones holds out...would love to see LVE hold out. I mean why wait for 3 years, start sitting after 2. What’s the worst that can happen? They’ll either pay you, trade you or you miss out on a year and get a fat contract down the line.
Under the current CBA, a rookie contract can only be renegotiated after 3 credited seasons.

That is why Mahommes is not holding out, the Chiefs couldn't give him a new contract even if they wanted to.

And Dak and Cooper are in the last year of their contracts and are set to become unrestricted free agents...…..you do not hold out in the last year of your deal, that would be beyond stupid for them to do that. That is why the only players that hold out either have multiple years on their contract still left, see Zeke, or they have been franchised, see Bell.

You draft a guy 4th overall and he goes all pro you pay him. Regardless of position. If you don't feel the position is valuable enough to pay but spend a top 5 pick on you are an imbecile lol. The pick should have been ramsey

Excellent point.....……..if the position is not valuable enough to give a big contract to, then why was the player drafted in the top 5?

This team is a playoff team without Zeke. Absolutely. Wow if you think Zeke makes a 3 win difference in the standings. Lol

They might be a playoff team without Zeke, but they are not a SB team without Zeke...……...and the Cowboys know this.

Do you really think the Cowboys would make Zeke the highest paid RB in the NFL if he didnt significantly increase their chances of playing in the SB? Do you think NFL teams pay players out of the goodness of their heart?

NFL teams pay players according to how valauble that player is to the team's success. The Cowboys have done the math and determined that Zeke is pretty f'ing valauble, hence the willingness to make him the highest paid RB in the league.

Actually they are down to around $74 million in cap space next year, and we know the Zeke deal is going to take a big chunk out of that. And if the Dak and Amari deals also get done, the Cowboys won't be able to do that much.

Dont forget they can cut that waste of space Crawford and free up another $10 million.

On no planet in the known universe if Crawford worth $10 million.

So cut Crawford and use his money to help absorb Zeke's new deal. That will still leave us with over $60 million and we can do some restructures as well if we start to get tight against the cap.

This pretty much signals its a done deal.

No way would they go into the season with just old man Morris and a rook and now that McCoy has signed with the Chiefs the only RBs left on the street are scrubs.

Zeke will be in the starting lineup week 1, otherwise we would have kept another back.

Ha,Ha,Ha. About that K.C. Chiefs Q.B.? From what I understand the franchise could easily placate/ keep him happy by having all the major brand named athletic shoe manufacturer's deliver to his front door every new brand line edition they come out with in his foot size,,,er,,,in a nondescript brown paper wrapped box with no return address listed on the package,,, I heard he's got a footware fetish that makes Imelda Marcos look like a mere piker in that hording game:lmao:

There are always ways to circumvent the salary cap if one is creative enough. Like the Pats using Brady's gym TB12 as the official gym of the Patriots. They pay an undisclosed fee to TB12 every season, just so happens Tom Brady owns TB12 and none of the money paid to TB12 counts against the salary cap. LOL!

Then everybody wonders why Brady signs below market contracts with the Pats...……….like I said, there are always ways to circumvent the cap.

Melvin Gordon is now about to get traded , Clowney got traded , Bell and Khalil got traded .

Hold outs are getting to be synonymous with trades .

Exactly...………..what is happening with Zeke is very unique.

Teams typically dont tolerate a player holding out all of training camp, all of preseason, and then giving him a huge contract one week before the season starts.

I agree with the premise hear, but I think many here are talking about a guy with 2 years left on his contract, who was suspended, continually a distraction with off-season stupidity holding out for top dog money....
Don't get me wrong, on the field he is worth top 5 money, but it isn't far fetched in my opinion to be pissed off for him asking considering those things and the risk....
I do hope he signs so we can move on without anymore distractions
