The way fans side with teams on this issue instead of the players is so, so backwards.

Not like they didn't offer a generous contract already though.

Raise the salary cap and the players would all start getting bigger deals. That's the problem I have with owners. Or go back to no salary cap and let jerruh open them moneybags again.

Are we supposed to be following the lead of the Patriots who play hardball with their players and win?

Or are we supposed to follow the lead of the Chargers who play hardball with their players and win nothing?

Again. The "honor the contract" thing is total garbage.

For example, we signed Hurns to a two year 12 mill deal. We cut him after a year.

Yet no one is crying about how the team didn't honor the contract.
And again, did he get his guaranteed money? Yes he did, just as the contract stipulated. Not hard to understand.

He got an injury settlement if I recall. He didn't just get cut and he then went on and signed a deal with Miami so it's not garbage. Why do you have agents if not for working and then explaining contract details? Hurns new what the deal was, he had some bad luck and moved on.

Hurns got nothing.

Can't believe I have to explain this to you, again.

OK, contracts are structured with certain guarantees and certain outs, depending on the deal. A team absolutely honors anything in a contract that is guaranteed in the terms of the contract. Things that are not, the option is there to either end or extend. Everybody knows this and BTW, teams are not the only ones who have these options in contracts. Players also have those kinds of terms available to them and they also use them. Early outs are not just a team thing.

You call it attack, I just say it's a plain lie to say that teams are not honoring contracts.
Team signs a player for 6 years. Team terminates the player after 4 years. The team didn’t honor the 6 year contract.

player holds out, walks away, doesn’t show up after 4 years. The players isn’t honoring the 6 year contract.

it’s the same either way. The employers can say I don’t want you working for me anymore. The player can say I’m not working for you anymore. Both ways the 6 year contract isn’t honored.

You see we all get it.
But one side of this wants to pretend it’s different to vilify the player while looking the other way when it’s the owner.

Why do you say this DC? Honestly, I don't feel like anybody is "siding" with anybody. I don't think fans would receive it well if the Cowboys just up and screwed Zeke like Pittsburgh did to Bell. I mean, that's a different deal there and I don't believe the fans would support something like that at all. But that's really not how Zeke and his situation are viewed, IMO, with the Cowboys. Zeke has really not been treated badly or unfairly, IMO. I think the fans kinda see this. That's the thing on this one, to me DC. I just think fans believe that Jerry has been fair with Zeke here and it's Zeke who has not really been the straight shooter. I could be totally wrong on that but I feel like that's where the fan base is, for the most part. IDK.

They have a good offense minus Melvin Gordon ....Gordon is a welcomed addition I won’t take that away but when you play the chargers your first plan is to stop rivers

When you plan for Dallas your first plan is to stop Elliott

They have years and money in the contract.

Of course they don’t have to honor it...but why argue that they are honoring the contract when the contract contains years and money that the team decides to terminate.

no matter who breaks the agreement it’s still not being honored by either side that breaks it.

Because everyone knows that if they don’t play they only get guaranteed money.

The players agree to that fact when they sign the deal.

Again, Hurns signed a contract in which he got guaranteed money. He got 2.5 million dollars guaranteed and a 2.5 million dollar base salary for 2018.

Did the Cowboys sign a contract saying they had to keep him for two years? How exactly did the Cowboys not honor the contract?

Only when I talk to you, to be honest. I always come back feeling like I'm a good 10% dumber, just for having read your posts.

Nice catch btw.
You better put me on your ignore list.
We all know you are not starting with all that much intelligence as is. I’d hate to see you drop down any lower

Not now since Elliott voluntarily stopped himself.

The players agree to that fact when they sign the deal.
The players don’t have a choice when they are drafted.
And the owners know the players who outperform the contract may hold out and ask for more.
