Didn't dak turn down a deal in Hopes of locking up a bigger deal next year?

I agree dak is a leader, and its among his best qualities. I just dont think his contract situation fits that narrative. If he wanted to be a leader in that regard he would have signed for $25MM, and ensured plenty of cap space for the team.
Dak say's for the "good of the team" I only want $40 million a year, what a true leader and humanitarian he is, maybe there's a noble prize for him coming.

You can talk about how he is not an elite passer worthy of franchise QB money all you want. But the Lael Collins signing should tell you a lot about Dak and his leadership.

Dak and Collins are homeboys literally both from Louisiana. Dak raised in initially on that Mississippi river juice in Sulfur, LA moving to Haughton, LA. Lael Collins got a full dosage from Baton Rouge LA that sits right on the Mississsippi. Marcus Spears, Lael Collins, Leonard Fournette, Odell Beckham, and the Mannings to name a few. As Prince said "must be something in the water they drink".

But Dak has let his contract negotiations go to the background to allow the Cowboys to resign/extend Demarcus Lawrence, Jaylon Smith, Lael Collins, and they will sign Elliott. It is a smart leadership move. If Dak gets a NFC Championship game team out of 2019, he will get his money and more from Jerry Jones. I think he will get it before but there is no denying that he is not prioritizing his contract in the process of getting a Super Bowl contender..

Dak has never had the Kirk Cousins drama surround him regarding a new contract. All he has done is lead. Leaders allow for others to shine and then reap the benefits. Dak now has a DE, MLB, and RT. He has an entire OL intake for a 2-5 year run, a defense that is signed for a 5-10 year run at Super Bowls.

So the Collins, Lawrence, and Smith, are signed. Who's next?

Yes, the average QB who is not signing his deal because he wants to be the highest paid in history, is obviously the one showing leadership

If he had signed for 25 or 30 million so the team could have stability then that would obviously not have been leadership

Yep, makes total sense (to idiots)

Dak didnt chose to wait. The Cowboys decided who to sign and when.

But we don't know this to be true.

I've said before that the only one of our players who I think *should* take less money is the QB. Why? Because his is the only position tied directly to wins and losses. And the facts are QBs that are overpaid are less likely to win because they're inherently surrounded with less talent.

But if Dak continues to win here? The earnings will be near limitless. He'll have every endorsement he wants. In my non-expert opinion, it makes more sense for a QB to take $5 million less than it does other positions if they have trust that the organization will use that money to keep talent intact around him.

Dak can build a narrative that makes him the ultimate hero in that locker room by creating the perception that he took less money to ensure his teammates had a seat at the table. We'll see if that's the direction this is ultimately going.

LMAO, Prescott said there was enough money for everyone to get paid and he's just waiting to be the last to prove that.

you make a good point , but it could indicate he is smart, or clever, and is taking a gamble.
if he lets jerry sign all the other guys 1st to team friendly deals, whatever is left will be his.
He knows they have a big pie or a lot of pies, so let everyone else eat first, then he can wind up getting more
than if he signed 1st.
Also from a mental perspective it is wiser to sign dak last since his contract will be the biggest.
if he signed 1st then the other players would want more based on what dak got.

5 mil less isnt going to add anything significant, would have to be 10-15 mil to be significant.
No one is going to have an all pro team, what a team needs is for the guys they pay big , to produce big.
If they dont produce big then nothing big will happen.,
And you have to factor in coaching to that as well, and Dallas is not really "big" in that dept.

This is spin to the Nth degree. you don't truly believe this do you?

It gets waaaaay worse but you already know that bro. So much so on this forum that before I post I can hear my deceased mother telling me " If you don't have nothing nice to say then don't say nothing at all, lol!

It's why I choose to lurk vice post mostly. The pro number 4 crowds opinions of his passing skills(or lack thereof) are some of the best and most shocking stuff that I hafta literally question myself alot if I am actually watching the same guy play as them.

The fact is the fact that Dak is not signed and Dak has not complained or negotiated in the media. The media said he turned down this and that amount. Dak has just show up to every required and voluntary football and non football activity.

The bottom line Dak has a RT that everyone thought was going to be a free agent and let go, he has DE that many were saying trade him if he does not want to play under the franchise tag, he has a MLB that I thought was another one legged LB risk taken to high and now maybe a perennial pro bowler, and now he has a elite RB that is a Cowboy for life.

Dak could have made this miserable for Jerry just like Zeke had to do to get paid. However, Dak is not stupid. He knows with Collins, Lawrence, Zeke, Smith, and don't be surprised about Cooper and Jones, he can line up at QB and win playoff games and contend for Super Bowls. Those QBs that can do that every year, get paid the highest salaries in the NFL. However, he unlike many of the other paid QBs has not let the players that made them get their initial success get gutted out like Rodgers in Greenbay, Wilson in Seattle, Brees in New Orleans, Big Ben in Pittsburgh, etc. Dak can do this (wait and let his boys get paid) and become the highest paid QB in the NFL with a team that can contend for a 5-7 stretch.

Cowboy fans seem to have selected amnesia that Jerry Jones resigned Troy Aikman 2 years before his contract expired in 1992 prior to Emmitt contract holdout and the year of Irvin's contract holdout. Once they all got paid 1995, the dynasty was technically over by 1996.

What if Jerry and Aikman would have waited on until 1995 the year his new contract and kept John Gesek, Stepnoski, Norton, Gogan, Washington, Jimmie Jones, Casillas, Harper, Darrin Smith, Robert Jones, Marion, Kevin Williams, Ron Stone, etc.

Dak is very smart and it is very smart to have a young paid team on its way to Super Bowls for the next 5-7 verses a team that can not stay together for the next 5-7 years.

I think this is the main reason Zeke held out and I dont blame him. He kept hearing how Dak was about to get paid and it must have rubbed him the wrong way.
