Dak and Zeke combined had 18 fumbles and 7 lost. We've gotten lucky with Zeke that he has only lost 2 fumbles in his career so far, but as we know, the ball doesn't always bounce your way when fumbling and this could determine a w/l or two in the NFL.

I'm not entirely sure if you can fix the problem with Dak, you either have the pocket awareness or you don't. I guess all you can hope for is a couple things 1. Pocket holds up 2. Dak gets the ball out quicker. With Zeke, he had 5 fumbles his rookie season, 1 fumble his second season, and 6 fumbles in his third season. Another season where he has 5-6 fumbles and we might have to start labeling this a problem. It doesn't get talked about because, as I mentioned, we've gotten lucky with the ball going our way - but the moment Zeke loses 3-4 of these things, and it can no longer be overlooked.

I imagine the coaching staff has noticed the 2018 fumble numbers and have addressed it, I just hope we see the numbers lowered in 2019.

I thought he had six touchdowns and six fumbles last season

Fumbles? Who cares about fumbles? Zeke is the best running back in football. Just ask him. Plus he got paid. That is what counts
$50M guaranteed... way more important than a fumbling problem. :D

Coaches always address fumbling issues. Whether coaching instruction has been successfully assimilated by the player is always the question that is answered after-the-fact.

Aikman mentioned it during the Saints game. If you're going to get sacked you cannot fumble as much as he does.

He's not quite as bad as Chad Hutchinson in pocket awareness, but he's close.

I am going to disagree here. I actually believe that is a strength of Daks is his awareness, not as good as romos but then again who's is.

He does hang on to the ball a little longer than he should and he needs to fix that, but two factors I think played a big role and that is the left side of the line struggled at times last year. With Tyrons back problems, Williams size and inexperience, and then there was Fredbeard being out, we struggled.

Great coming from him.

In 1999 Troy had 8 fumbles. In 1996-97 he had 6 both years. In 1993 he had 7 fumbles. In 1996 he lost all 6. It's just the nature of the game.

It's not like Murray who fumbled because he carried the ball so loosely. I think Troy is wrong on this one.

Here is the link on Troy's stats.

I really don't care what Troy had to say. "Nature of the game" - 12 fumbles is still far too high, and Zeke having 2 seasons out of his 3 seasons played with 5 or more fumbles is close to being a trend.

You can't have your QB and RB having nearly 20 fumbles combined. You just can't.

Hey mattjohnson2010 im more worried about them fixing the red zone issues of last year than fumbles.....

this is simple, if Dak doesn't hold the ball too long then the number will go down....let's hope he has worked through that.

Linehan’s “scheme” didn’t exactly get people open. Plus do you remember the WR / TEs that started the 2018 season? Remember that crew? It is no coincidence Dak improved after Cooper arrived and Columbo became the Line coach.
