Get Cooper's deal done to.

I'm really beginning to feel unsure about him. Don't get me wrong I really like him and want him here under contract. But, he isn't in any hurry to make a deal and the pie is getting smaller, almost everyday.
Let's face it the WR room is much deeper that it was a year ago. Cooper is a big part of that but they have definitely added some talent there.
I would especially worry if Gallup makes a big jump this season and Amari is just ok. He, not Amari, could end up being our new #1 with a huge new deal coming.

I think having Coop here with Gallup will ultimately help them both, Dak, Zeke and the team offense as a whole, so i'm really hoping he stays.

I’m leaning towards the team using the franchise tag on Byron if he has a good year. I don’t think the team has even approached him regarding an extension. And with Brown’s contract up as well, it will keep our secondary somewhat intact.

That said, Cooper getting tagged is a real possibility if the sides can’t agree on a deal.

I would prefer to sign Cooper and franchise Dak though. I know Cooper is worth a long term contract (just not crazy long like last time), Dak I am not so sure about yet.

Cooper is on his rookie contract

I'm buy into Dak more than most but I'm not ready to shell out more than 30 million a year for him just yet. Only way I do it this year is if he has an MVP like season or leads us to a Super Bowl. Other than that I'm franchising him in 2020. Get Amari's deal done. I think he would take a "discount" like Jaylon did-maybe not as much. Dallas saved his career.

Like it or not, in today's world $30 million/year contracts are not reserved for QBs who have MVP level seasons or for QBs who have already been to the Super Bowl.

I think Dak deal would have been done if not for the holdup with Zeke deal. Perfect situation would have been to get Dak and Cooper done this year since both are FA at the end of the season and take care of Zeke next season. All water under the bridge now

Please don't take this as me being condescending but that isn't true right now. IF Dallas does give Dak over 30 million your statement is true. List of QBs who make an average of 30 million right now:
35- Russell Wilson (1-1 in Super Bowls)
34- Ben Roethlisberger (2-1 in Super Bowl)
33.5- Aaron Rodgers (1-0 in Super Bowl, 2x MVP)
33.5- Jared Goff (Made it to a Super Bowl)
32.0- Carson Wentz (Let's call it like it is, he was the MVP in 2017 and a huge reason they won the Super Bowl. Odd situation for sure. He would have set the market if he was healthy)
30.0- Matt Ryan (Made it to a Super Bowl and is an MVP)

If Dallas gives Dak over 30 million, that opens the door for guys like Dak to make that kind of money. I think 30 million was very generous for Dak right now. Not saying he can't ever get to an MVP QB or Super Bowl winning QB. I think he can and hopefully will! I do agree Philly giving Wentz that money opened the door for Dak and I understand those arguments. Dak has been more consistent but Carson has had the higher peak. I wish Jerry and Stephen would have signed Dak in March to a deal around $29 million a year. Would have been #3 at the time...

Fair enough, although I would argue that Wentz doesn't apply because you can't simply give him credit for getting to the Super Bowl when he was out the last 3 games of the season and all of the playoffs, including the Super Bowl. What the Eagles accomplished with him under center is no better than what the Cowboys accomplished in 2016 with Dak.

But I would also argue that Garappolo getting $27.5 million/year 2 years ago when he had only started 2 games, and Stafford getting $27/million per year 2 years ago, and Cousins getting $28 million a little over a year ago indicates the needle was already moving toward $30 million back then, and prices are notably higher now.

He should do what Zeke did, walk out until they give him one. Or like Dlaw did, threaten first. If the threat doesn't work, walk out. This front office has shown, if they don't offer you what you think you are worth, threaten a hold out, or hold out, and you'll get it. Tell them good luck with Rush.

Agree on the Eagles. That's why Wentz opened the door for him. Dallas should not go over 32 million a year right now for Dak. If they do they are really betting on him! And I do hope he is the guy.

30m is the new 27m, which was the new 25m, which was the 22m, which was the new 20m. Its how it works and always has and always will. We just happen to have the top guys at the top now. There was a time last year the top 5 was cousins, Jimmy G, Stafford, Carr and luck. There was time that the top was Jimmy G, Stafford, Carr and luck were the top. There was a time that Stafford was the top paid. A time carr was.

Early Sunday evening, Cowboys down by 4 with 2 minutes left in the game starting a drive on our own 25 yard line. JJ is standing in our end-zone with new contract in hand also holding a big sign that says "Come and get it"!

I meant as opposed to the last time we signed a star wr, you know that guy named Desmond
Ahhh, I understand now. Well, at least one thing in Cooper's favor is he doesn't seem to be as volatile a person as Dez was, plus he doesn't seem to lean as heavily on simply out-athleting opponents (I made up a new term).
