Gotta disagree with Bob here.

We've largely done deals in the same way over the years.

What changed was our willingness to cut bait on stars instead of letting loyalty drive our decisions.

Previously we would have certainly kept Dez last year. Likely restructuring his deal.

Letting go of players on the decline. That's key

Now all they have to do to be legit is WIN IN THE PLAYOFFS!

Yes- I’m impressed with the improvement in talent acquisition and cap management. But the final judge of gaining respect for the Jones boys’ FO is results on the field. Again...in the playoffs.

I’m not one of the fans here who often complain about this team’s lack of respect in the media. Until we win at least TWO playoff games in a row for the first time in 24 years, the improvements the Jones boys have made only deserves “partial credit”.

Hazey do you know how difficult it is to not win consecutive playoff games in 24 years with NFL parity and a salary cap? It's so difficult that only the Detroit and Washington in the NFC are more inept than we are (i.e., The Jones Boys). Until we get that monkey off our back, the Jones boys are just hype-machines still drawing legitimacy from those three Lombardi's Jimmy won for us in the early 90's while in year 24 of mediocrity.

Cooper does play like a first. Like a great pick as a first. But his contract over 5 years will cost 90-100mil more than a first. Instead, we could have spent that 70-80 mil on other players, *and* had a first round pick for 5 years.

Thing is not all 1st rd picks play like 1st rd picks. I was leery at first but his age and his talent swayed me. Jerry gambled and in my view that gamble is paying off and clearly if he helps get this team to a SB it will be a key move as to the reason.
