Dak played little during the preseason, really, I would expect a few throws to be a little off, no we shouldn't expect 158.3 passer rating every game, but he'll still miss open receivers, every quarterback does. Watched the first half of the Pats game last night with my son, a big Brady fan, and even a 19 year vet missed some throws.

One game, enjoy the win, but there's a long way to go....

That's part of it. We shouldn't expect perfection from any quarterback. I also think, though, we should recognize poor or off throws for what they are instead of creating a false narrative. I have absolutely no problem with Dak not being perfect but being exactly what we should expect from a franchise quarterback.

As I said, I'd take that performance every week.

100% agree. The game has slowed down for him, and you can see it by the way he is progressing through his reads and delivering the ball with perfect timing. The strike to Gallup in stride on the slant is the prime example IMO... That was not his first read-- he looked to his right and came back, fired, and the throw was right on the money.

Big time, NFL caliber throw right there. You can also tell he and Gallup have really worked on their chemistry. Nice feel for each other the whole game. Cooper is obviously the biggest threat, but Gallup is poised to take advantage of the chances and looks he gets. Been a long time since we have had a #2 WR that can consistently destroy coverage like this.

I think some of it was a product of the play-calling. There were plays like all four of the TD throws that were simple reads. On the throws to Jarwin and Cobb, the read depended on the underneath coverage biting on the play-action. Once Dak saw that, there was no reason to look elsewhere. The Witten TD was a one-man route where either Dak was going to throw it to Witten or run it in depending on what the defense did. The throw to Cooper was an iso situation, where Dak did a good job reading blitz, but knowing where he was to go with the ball if the Giants blitzed was predetermined.

Last year, we had far too many play-calls where Dak has to come off his first read, progress through and then even come back to his first read because the play-calling wasn't given him any help. This was a very quarterback-friendly game and allowed Dak's skills to shine.

Not trying to take anything away from him because he still had to make the throws, and he did. It was just nice to see the coordinator actually make it easier on him to be decisive.

Very impressed on Dak's poise and accuracy.

With play calling and distribution of catches like yesterday, Dak will have a monster season. Pair that with the running game, the Cowboys offense will be unstoppable.

That and the protection! It was impeccable!

Not going to oversell this but my goodness hes really improved. Even on his incompletions he was hitting receivers in their hands. 2 Drops by Cooper and Zeke/Gallop dropped one each. He is setting his feet, taking his time and throwing absolute darts. The pass he hit Cobb was so on the money even if a defender was trailing him it would still be an unstoppable catch. This man has worked hard this off-season and its showing. The Brinks truck was already on the way...but he's making it heavier by betting on himself. Glad he's my QB.
he did very well, to be sure. i hope he does as well when the rush is in his face.

He always starts 1st quarter slow. Romo did a bit as well.

Sometimes really “bad” throws are throw aways just not as obvious as 20 yds out of bounds.

Yep... the OCs job is to put his QB in the best position to succeed-- and Moore did an amazing job of knowing the strengths of his QB and calling plays to maximize his abilities.

Gonna be fun to watch them grow together.

I think it was his decisiveness that impressed me the most. He had a great game once he got in a groove.

Most all his passes were in the WR wheelhouse. Was throwing very catchable balls. And dropping some dimes right in the bucket. A few were posting yesterday because the balls weren’t right on. I watched football all day yesterday and saw every QB throwing the same. Sometimes we expect to much perfection from our team. I am one of them during the game. We miss one pass and I think the game is over and we are going to lose. Lol.
Good post. What I saw yesterday was great accuracy outside and downfield. Some passes over the middle were slightly off, but unless you see the film clearly, I always assume that some of that has to do with windows. D linemen are huge. When a receiver is cutting across the middle, he may be open from the CB, but most QBs still have to throw threw windows between and around the pass rush, over or around LBs. Sometimes a pass that looks like it missed a guy running over the middle in stride had to be thrown threw a window available, and the receiver has to sit down or adjust to the ball on the move.

Understood....But these timing routes are getting off in 3-4 seconds max. Do you blitz LBs and leave the middle of the field open or drop and let Zeke run wild? Our Line gave excellent protection. He got sacked 50+ times last year...I don't think this 2019 offense will have more than 30.

A perfect Quarter Back Rating while making every throw a QB can possibly make. No doubt that he will still get over analyzed but at least he gets a break this week.

and he deserves credit for beating the scrub Giants. Thats why when a player is analyzed and payed for accomplishment its based on more than a 1 game sample

Not to mention sometimes the receiver may not stop or break where he is supposed to.

Not to sound negative... He looked great yesterday.... Hopefully he's consistent throughout the year. Consistency is a big thing. If you're great one week and trash the next week, what good is it?

Not Gallup. Seven targets, seven catches.

Actually kept waiting for a pick. It seemed we was throwing way to much but looking at the stats I guess not. He barely missed that wheel route to the FB but he had someone in his face and doinked it off the defenders helmet who had good coverage. A shame he couldn’t adjust and come down with it.

That’s just it. I watched most other teams since Thursday night kickoff. There were some very questionable throws made, but many in here that just hate Dak wanna point out any bad throw solely made by Dak, but are noncommittal on the good ones. They’re miserable and awaiting the next “I told ya so” moment.

Laughable!

It was the best game I’ve seen him play. His mechanics lacked at times. He fell away from some throws, short armed some but the receivers either adjusted or were so open that it did not matter. I’m not overreacting to one game against a bad team. There was little pass rush and not a great secondary. Dak took advantage though and had a good game.

I’ve always thought Dak looked pretty good when he has time to throw, it’s when he’s under pressure that he seems to have some problems and that’s a large part of what separates good QB’s from great. I’m not saying he hasn’t improved but I won’t say he has due to how he looked against a team with one of the worst amounts of pressures and sacks last year who got no pressure once again. Let’s see how he does when the competition picks up significantly which unfortunately we’ll have to wait a few weeks for.

All quarterbacks are worse under pressure, Brady and Rodgers included. However, I don't think you can chalk yesterday up to simply have time in the pocket. He was incredibly decisive and the ball was coming out very quickly. This wasn't a case of dropping back and reading the field all day from the pocket, these were good, quick, decisive reads before letting the ball fly.

Just a one game sample of course but very promising start from Dak. He was fantastic.

Thank you for over analyzing and making my point
