Speculation: Signing Morris, Eric Berry/Trading Taco?

With today's release of Chunn, and Garrett's kiss of death for Taco, I cannot help but wonder if a few of moves are in the works. 1. Resigning Alfred Morris for Chunn's spot. No brainer to me. So good in the locker room and better all around backup than Pollard right now (Pollard will surpass, but not quite yet because he's not as physical in pass pro/short yardage). 2. Sign Eric Berry. Seriously, unless the coaching staff is all in on Donovan Wilson being our SS THIS year, the staff just cannot feel comfortable with Heath being our SS after seeing him whiff on Saquon on that long run and continue to take poor angles. We need a sure tackler back there. For a non-guaranteed salary, I'd take a shot on either Berry. 3. Trade Taco for a conditional 5th. To anyone that will take him. (I also thought about trading Taco for Reshad Jones, but I don't think we can take on the salary). Thoughts?

Darnit, just saw we called up LB Covington. There goes my speculation on Alf Morris. Still can trade Taco to open up a spot for Berry.

Maybe I should offer a 'Run it by me before you post it" consulting service...

Thoughts are we'll make none of those moves, unfortunately.

Why on earth would they cut Morris and resign him a week later?

I agree with you in part @NorthwestDallas40 but we need someone to help with our run defense right now, with Adrian Peterson on deck and possibly with something to prove to his coach for sitting him last week, I think this was a good move on Dallas' part. I could be wrong, but I see their logic.

probably chunn back to PS? by releasing Morris prior to game 1, we don't guarantee his salary for the season. shrewed move if we do sign Morris.

Why Berry still available? why hasn't he signed with anyone in need of a safety? not sure I am sold on having him....

They'll probably try to trade Taco in time to clear a roster spot for Robert Quinn in week three.

If they keep Taco, they can either IR Luke Gifford or cut Darian Thompson. Maybe calling up Covington foreshadows a plan to shut Gifford down.

I personally think we should keep Chunn. Gives you a special teams option. Morris will be a game day inactive every week.

Berry I think must be done with no team signing him still. This would be a good week to sign him because of no guarantees. Only if he comes in reasonable like 4 million.

On SS:
Even if they like Wilson, it's silly to think he is better than Berry. If we can have Berry for a reasonable price, we should. We should really bring in the best SS available to swap out Heath. Once it was clear Iloka was a dud and Frazier still wasn't cutting it, it was a no brainer.

Thompson and Frazier are totally expendable. Once Wilson is healthy, one should just leave, and the other replaced by a free agent signing like Berry.

Chunn will probably fill the vacant practice squad spot assuming he clears waivers.
