One of my favorite things about this first game was watching Travis Frederick direct the line. I don't think we had one miscommunication along the line. We also saw Dak being able to make quicker reads and get the ball out, and I also think Frederick deserve some credit for that. Frederick being able to handle the line calls and call out what the protection needed to be both gave Prescott insight on what to expect and allowed him to focus more on the coverage to ID where to go with the ball.

I think that was a a big key as well. Dak seemed overwhelmed with it all at the start of last season!

Frederick seemed able to handle blocking as well.

The Fredbeard is back!

Joe Looney did a great job filling in last year this line looked totally different with Fred beard directing it no offense to Joe Looney he really did a great job last year just not the talent level of Frederick

Joe Looney is rolling his eyes at all of you, saying "It's the Giants, dude."

(I too am glad Fred's back.)

Yep. The tackles get the big praise but the centers are the ones who anchor the line. And we have one of the best in the league. His backup filled in as good as you could ask last year but he was not even close to the adjustments made at the line and how he keeps the unit being cohesive. Having him back is almost like a free agent signing in that we are gaining more talent than we had from last year.

Fred being on the sidelines last season is paying dividends for this season.
He watched and learned and is now the on field coach for the OL... and also giving his body a year to recover from the pounding it’s taken since he first started playing, may well extend his career.
