Would Jerry make Kellen Moore HC to keep him from other teams?

That's not necessarily true. There are higher positions within the Cowboys organization that Garrett could ascend to. Jerry may have to check his ego first but it could happen.
You can dream but I deal in realities.

Of course . The talent gets credit when it’s successful and coaching the blame when it doesn’t. Lol
Well we have been running versions of the Zampese offense for an incredible number of years since the 90’s, so it’s nice to see it modernized. Dak is making it work — the RPO’s alone requires Dak to make good decisions and he does that. Not detracting from that.

It was a great opening game. We’ve added some talent since opening game last year with Cooper, Cobb, the return of Witten , Frederick and the OL healthy. The results should be more favorable especially against lower tier teams.

Jerry would move on from Jason Garrett and make Kellen Moore the head coach?
I sure hope so, I dont know what will happen, but I want JG gone, and kellen might make a good HC
he is young and motivated, and innovative. JG isnt innovative at all.

Sure, but the motion and shifting isn't random. Already a lot of video showing how the motion got defenders out of position.

Hypothetically speaking if our offense far exceeded expectations and this team made it far into the playoffs. I couldn’t imagine Kellen Moore not getting phone calls from other teams regarding head coach positions. Do you think Jerry would move on from Jason Garrett and make Kellen Moore the head coach?

Mods: Please correct Kellen’s name in the title

Regardless how good the offense is under Moore this season he doesn’t have near enough coaching experience to get a head coaching job. This is only his second year in coaching. He’s going to have to put together a number of good seasons as the OC to be considered for an HC coaching job.

Or is it more about the matchups ? Time will tell. I’m not drawing conclusions after one game. I’m cautiously excited.

If his offense play calling develops Dak into a top 10 QB he will receive his accolades sooner than later.

The moment positive things happen to this team, threads like this pop up.

This is the example of the fan base in such a hurry to anoint and then start thinking past the next opponent, the next month, this season and into the future.

It's like the fan's only thought is dynasty and not just this season alone.

If this keeps up, and the offense gins like we saw, or even close to, then things will work out somehow.

I laughed at the people who stated Zeke was greedy because he wanted a raise. This example, and it dang sure has been stated about Kris Richard too, is fan greed.

Enjoy the Ride now.

Trust me it will take at least 3 more seasons of success as an OC before he’s considered for an HC coaching job. Refer to the coaching resumes of some of the head coaches in the league. It takes years of coaching experience to be considered for an HC coaching job in the NFL. Jerry would be the only one to hire him as a HC with little coaching experience. No one but Jerry would’ve hired him as an OC.

Lets be honest....................................the offense didnt have far to go to be impressive against the last two years.

I’d agree . But in 2017 it was without Elliott for 6 games and Smith for a few of those as well going 3-3 knocking us out of the playoffs. We obviously saw how talent impacts the results.

And in 2018 without a WR1 for first 7 games , fell to 3-4 until we acquired Cooper who saved the season and probably Daks career. Maybe Garrett’s job too.

The biggest impact I see is the talent we’ve added to begin the season with Cooper, Cobb return of Witten with Frederick and OL healthy. Moore’s play calling a definite plus. Again, more talent better results.

Dak has been more impressive with additional surrounding cast. Especially lesser teams.

But I’d be in the same mindset if we’d struggled out of the shoot early with Moore. Give it time to develop.

Fortunately we begin the season with our softest stretch and hopefully will be jelling by October when we are tested . Looking like could be a good season. Ultimately though it will be measured in January.

Well if you haven't learned by now about Jerry Jones? He would do just about anything at anytime he would probably dig up his dead mother and sell her if he thought he could win a Super Bowl by doing it !

No disrespect to his mother I'm not even sure if she's living or dead I think you get the point

Let’s see, 1 year as a QB coach, then 1 year as OC.
I don’t care how great the year is, Moore will not be offered a head coaching job with that resume.

We've already had this discussion. Here is what I've already said on the topic. Maybe you'll read it here.

I think you are very close to diagnosing this situation right but you have one critical component all wrong. Jason Garrett is a great evaluator of talent and is misplaced at his current job as HC but he shouldn't be allowed to walk as you say, he should be promoted. You are right about Jerry needing to keep his ego in check, he needs to do the right thing by giving up the GM responsibilities and make room for Garrett in the Front office with the GM title. This will make room for Kellen Moore to become our HC and prevent him from being poached by another team.

The Jones boys see the coaching greatness they have in Kellen Moore. It's evident when he is moved from player to QB coach to OC in progressive seasons. They are not going to allow him to be recruited away from this franchise. They have a clear career path for this young man and its nothing short of being the HC for the Dallas Cowboys for decades to come.
If Jerry were to give up the GM title, it would be for Will McClay, not Jason Garrett.

I'd rather see McClay GM and Garrett walk than vice versa. If Garrett were to become GM, McClay would most certainly leave.

I don't think it will happen after 1 season let alone 1 game. McVay was an OC for 2 season before he got a chance, Sean Payton 5 seasons. One day Moore may get the chance but I think people are jumping the gun big time. I'm sure if Moore is doing a good job Jerry will do everything he can to keep him but I would also say not all coordinators have made it as HC. Different dynamic as a HC than a Coordinator. Wade is one of the top DC in the league but his chances as HC has been less than great.
