What was Tony Romo's all time best game?

Statistically? Probably the Denver in 2013.

Best performance? To me, it's either San Francisco in 2011 or Seattle in 2014.
Both those were classic Tony. I saw him in Buffalo throw like 5 picks. But he got them into position in the last 20 seconds to kick the game winner. The place just went flat.

Beating Seattle in Seattle was great to. They brought out the guy who tackled Romo on the botched hold in the playoff game to raise the 12 man flag. Then Romo goes on to punk the crowd.

I came to say the Denver game, the ultimate shootout with one of the games all time best QBs..

However..

It seems to be an incredibly popular game, so I'm going to go a bit unorthodox here..

2009 vs New Orleans

The Saints came marching in, 13-0 and looking to set the world on fire. Dallas was 8-5, on a 2 game winning streak and had "no chance" to upset the Saints.

Wound up to be one hell of a ball game.
Tough one to beat, as is Denver.

His best game, that I recall, was against the Saints in 2012 though. Week 16, thick of the playoff race. Tony threw for over 400 yards and 4 TDs, no INTs, and was under duress all night with no run game. Threw 2 TDs in the last 5 minutes, including one with less than 30 seconds left, to tie it.

Dallas lost in overtime lol. Demarco Murray fumbled on Dallas' own 2 in the third quarter with the game tied.

I loved the 2014 Seattle game, but that was really more for the whole team than just Romo (though he was great in it). I loved that game because Dallas was just so physical and they wore down that very good Seattle team in their stadium where they almost never lost.

That is the kind of team that I, personally, like to have.

They out bullied the bullies, and it was great.

Also, Romo had a Thanksgiving game against Tampa where I think he threw 5 TD passes. It was early in his career but I’m not sure which year it was.

Detroit playoff win 2014 (playoff wins are ALWAYS better than some stat game where he threw 500 yards and LOST) That Denver game showed his talent but it also showed his bad habit of throwing an INT at the worst moment.

Tony Romo had lots of great games, but I would always say his best games ended in a win.

According to ESPN’s QBR formula, it’s...

Edit: whoops, I’m now wrong, ESPN must have fiddled with the formula again (probably when they monkeyed with it to remove the infamous Charlie Batch game). It is now the Thanksgiving game in 2006.

Dez's first TD that game... wow.

Denver 2013

Nicest numbers. But their secondary was awful, and I don't remember a lot of pass rush going on either. Seemed like a walk in the park. I'd go with a game against a defense playing better.

Romo was pretty damn good in the loss to GB. Even better if he hadn't been robbed of the UnCatch. It wasn't enough, probably even with the catch, but that was pretty much the story of the Romo era. Great play by Romo that couldn't overcome weaknesses on the team.

I agree. He also demolished Philadelphia in a playoff win in 2009, but we led by so much they shut it down really early.

But that Denver int was as weird as weird gets.
Diving , truly spectacular play by a defender, after a lineman steps on the QBs foot while he's throwing it. That was insanely bizarre. That dude was snake-bitten.

His football career is a true tragedy. One of the best players to ever play the position, yet nothing ever went his way. Hell, name one time in a big game anyone on his team ever made a big play for him ( offense or defense ). For how loved Demarcus Ware was he choked harder in big games then Romo ever dreamed of.

Patrick Crayton drop NFC divisional
Dez Drop NFC divisional
Miles can't find ball misses playoffs because of it

Those are just the easy ones I remember. He never had a player do one thing to help him win a big game.

yeah, lets not forget the defense gave up 51 points....let that sync in...the offense scores 48 but we lose....how many times can you say that happened.
Yeah, we punt once all day and still lose.
I'm certain that Dallas has never lost then they scored 48 in regulation and punted once.
Should have won by 3 TDs that day based on the offense.

Hoping better fortune follows Dak...and he helps make it that way.

I'd say defeating the 13-0 undefeated Saints, in the Superdome. Romo led Dallas to a 24-3 lead before the defense nearly choked it away.

Close second would be the 2014 wild card playoffs. The Lions led 20-7 but Romo led the Cowboys on a comeback. He was sacked six times in that game but still got it done.
