Just think how good this defense would be if you subtract heath and put in a budding young center fielder with talent and ball hawking skills? Maybe we will get lucky with that 6th rounder S that looked so good in preseason.
Heath does not play "center field". That terms in football means the FS. Heath is playing SS.

I don't get the talented DL narrative. Outside of DLaw, who is even average on this line? Not potential, but actual demonstrated play on an NFL field.

I see no one. Quinn is a one year rental and Gregory is a crap shoot. I don't see ONE long term answer on this Dline besides Lawrence. We actually need to find the answer to 3 positions along the line. The are going to HAVE to dip into FA next season for someone. Maybe they can sign Quinn for another season at DE. But they will need a DT.

It’s pretty unusual when your second round pick (and highest pick overall) can’t make the active game day roster. So far it seems that Hill belongs on a milk carton.

It’s obviously too early to call him a busy and he may still end up setting the world on fire, but it seems like an indictment of this pick sincerely Taco was essentially forced on the 46 man roster.

Based on what we have seem so far, the team either doesn’t know how to evaluate interior DL players or is looking for the wrong traits in said players.

So many of us have been begging for a trash can full of dirt at the 1 Tech, and the team will have none of it.

Marinelli’s “Rushmen” are not getting to the QB and putting much pressure on opposing QBs. We are also not solid against the run at times even when we should be.

What do you guys thing about this fact?

I think Marinelli should be chopped and we should find a DL coach that knows how to make the most out of the DL players and we should change what we are looking for in the DL, especially at the 1 Tech.
Revisit this conversation towards the end of the season. Way too early. Some players for a variety of reasons just don’t hit the ground running. I’m only slightly concerned about Hill.

Absolutely. There is depth on this line, but not much talent. Other than Tank, Collins is the only quality player on that Dline (likely can add Quinn to that list when he returns). To use the "talent" excuse to rationalize Hill's inactive status is laughable. This DL is so talented they gave up 300 yards rushing to the Rams, couldn't pressure Manning, who has the mobility of Giant Redwood tree, and gave up well over 100 yards to Barkley on barely double digit carries. For the most part they are JAGs.

Maryland was drafted #1

Watt was drafted #11

Hill was drafted #58

Looks like apples and oranges to me.

Again, I didn't bring those names up, the poster I responded to brought them up. They initiated the comparison, not me.

Are you feeling warm and fuzzy about Taco? The same thing was said about him two years ago.

I have not seen anything to indicate that Hill is a late-round talent. There may have been some draft pundits who had him down as one, but a few years ago, they also had Travis Frederick as a third-rounder.

Value is always debatable, along with whether any other team would have taken the player that high. Here's what one draft site had to say about Hill's value:

Also, it was pretty clear during the draft that he was who we wanted to take in the second round, so Dallas' attention was squarely on him just like it was on LVE in the first round the previous year.

If he was truly targeted by is in the draft (and he was THAT important as our first pick) and he can’t make the 46 man roster with the low investment we have in the position, does that not bother you?

Just a couple years ago, in the same scheme we used to watch s. Lee knife thru gaps and cut runners down methodically.

The will lb is actually designed to be protected behind the singled up 3 tech.

Have teams found a way to get the center out on him due to a un dominate 1 tech, or is our will lb the half step slow....or as someone said overrunning plays

The 3 tech job is to get upfield....a.donald
True. I wanna see LVE make plays more often like Lee did.

Along with the 1 tech. Someday this team as a WHOLE will get a clue. Our run defense was good...

With Collins, Crawford, Hyder, Jackson and Covington where exactly is he getting play time. All of them except Jackson has starting experience in this league. Hill was a pick to develop for next year. Stop it guys, let this play out
